1st Trimester

Alien Parasite???

Does anyone else feel like their body has been taken over by an alien parasite?  I feel so out of control of what is going on inside of me, it's crazy!  My hormones are all over the place making me dumber than I'd ever thought I could be, I'm crying all the time, my road rage has gotten out of hand, I'm eating like crazy yet not gaining weight and eating crazy things I never normally do, I can't drink (which I really miss), I'm completely exhausted to the point where I can't do anything other than work, eat and sleep.  I've even had the thought "I don't want to be pregnant and have a baby anymore!!!" because I feel like a completely different person, and not one I like!  And I've still got 7 more months of this before the baby even arrives?!?!?!

And unfortunately my DH tries but he just doesn't have a clue, which makes it even harder as we've always understood everything that the other is going through so we've had more tiffs in the 9 weeks of this pregnancy than we've had in the two years prior.

This parasite is wearing me out!!!  Can anyone relate???

  • First, I LOVE that you are calling a parasite.  I am too, and no one seems to think that is amusing!  HA!

But yeah, I feel the same way.  Exactly.  I'm not the same person at all and I hate that part.  I'm having terrible morning sickness and I never feel physically well.  I'm moodier than I have ever been in my life.  I'm uncomfortable, my body is changing much faster than I expected.  I'm not due until November and I don't know how I'm ever going to make it that long!!!

(I bought my husband an expecting father's book.  He doesn't even remotely get it!)

  • DH called the baby a parasite today! I asked him why a baby the size of a blueberry could make me feel so awful. He told me it was because I had a parasite in me. Thanks DH! Today is the worst I have felt since getting my BFP. I was also told that while I was no longer b*tchy this week I am just very crabby. However he did like my steak craving and told me he could get used to those. Hang in there! The second trimester is usually a little better.

I know! Until it looks remotely human, its totally an alien, and until it's viable, it's a parasite. My gyno called it a parasite last time I saw him (my initial appt.). Big Smile

  • I remember with DD the "blueberry" stage was TOUGH!

My boss actually called the babies paracites and that made me LOL!! SHe said that she called her 2nd daughter that because for her entire 5th month she was a zombie with no energy. I guess tecnnally it's correct... a paracite is a foreign body living off your own ; )

I'll call them that till I feel better... but right now... ::barf::

  • YES YES YES a thousand times YES. I'm lucky that my DH has been an absolute gem - being super supportive, picking up groceries, cooking, you name it. I was having the "ok I'm done with this pregnancy thing" feelings yesterday and my friends just don't get it. One is having TTTC for almost 2 years now, and the other has chosen not to have children b/c of religious reasons. I know they would both trade anything to be in my shoes, nauseous and constipated or not. I feel like I can't I can't be honest to them - like i'm b*ing about something they would give anything to experience. Some days that is really really hard to keep in perspective. I am so glad for you ladies on this board!!!!

  • I'm amazed that nobody has flamed you yet!!  Some people on this board do not have any sense of humor AT ALL.  Last week someone (jokingly) said that their baby was the devil because she got sick in church.

I get what you are saying though.  This baby is sucking the life out of me.

^ This exactly. I feel like a zombie and sometimes I half way wonder if DH has somehow let it slip his mind that we are having a baby.

  • Thank you everyone for your comments!  There just seems to be a void in all the pregnancy talk about how bad it can be!  I was talking to my cousin today who has a 1yo and she said that she remembered feeling the same way, like "why doesn't anyone tell women that pregnancy is like this???" but that once the baby comes, you completely forget it all!!!  I really hope that is true.  And fortunately, I don't feel this way all day every day, and this whole pregnancy thing is temporary.  We just need to keep talking to each other and LOL-ing.

Thanks again ladies and hang in there.

  • Most days I'm so moody I feel like I'm posessed and that this extrememly evil angry person keeps popping out... Can't wait to not be so irritable. strangly enough my DH is the only one that I haven't lashed out at.
  • I felt this way through the entire 1st & 3rd trimesters. I was never "sick" but was constantly tired and nauseous. I'm in college & my BFF is a biology major. He called DS a parasite before I did, and it stuck until about 6 months. Now, he's our "chubbins" and it's no wonder he sucked the life out of me if he "ate" then like he does now.

I'm ready to climb the walls, too, buddy.
