1. I have had to fly with NUMEROUS airlines that had no changing table on board and yes I used the tray table with a baby pad. sorry but if my choice is going into a tiny bathroom and laying my child on a toilet or using a tray table I am using the tray table. (I cleaned it with anti bacterial wipes afterwards)
2. I need to bring ear plugs for surrounding passengers? Whatever, Should I also bring ear plugs to the bank, grocery store, restaurant , church? Babies cry and they cry because they are sad, angry, hungry poopy not just to pi$$ off the other passengers. Our world would literally die if we didn't reproduce. I hate this article they can shove it up their ARSE.
Re: two sections on babies on flights ridiculous
That's DISGUSTING. If I saw someone doing that on a flight, I'd raise holy hell. I don't care what the fvck you wipe it down with. Aside from the fact that people eat off those trays, could you be a little more inconsiderate to the passengers around you?
If there is no changing table, and no counter in the bathroom to change the baby, then where are you supposed to change it? I have changed Ruby on my lap, and on the seat, but if I were by myself and sitting in a middle or window seat, what is the alternative?
1. That's nasty. Plain and simple.
2. At the bank, grocery store, restaurant, and church you can escape the crying baby. Airplane? Not so much.
I'm getting the feeling you wore a "I'm making a human what's your superpower?" shirt while pregnant.
"It's a child, not a cheeto" Thanks mmariluh!
"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
that is fvcking nasty.
Go to the bathroom, put the seat cover down and change her on your lap.
I'm impressed that you're able to to change a baby on those tiny tables.
I've changed them on the seat or in my lap.
you change your baby on the tray table??
you are super klassy.
That's what I would do.
I have never flown with Oisin and been on a plane without a changing table.
Makes sense. Thanks.

I have. It sucks. But instead, I changed her in my lap in the bathroom or if I had a row to myself VERY QUICKLY on the seat next to me. They make the traveling pads for changing the kid for a reason, and this is one of them.
As for the crying, I'm half and half - parents need to do as much as they can to keep their baby happy/quiet but everyone else needs to suck it up and not give them extra shiit if the kid is still noisy. The parents aren't enjoying themselves either.
I agree with this.

I have flown twice with Ruby and none of the planes had changing tables. I even asked the flight attendant, after looking in the bathroom and not seeing one.
Yeah, I'm a mom, but I think you're a little self-righteous. You're disgusting for changing a baby on the tray table. People eat off of that.
As for the crying, everyone in that plane is trapped with your annoying kid until the plane lands. Your correlation of the bank, grocery store, etc does not qualify. I can leave a bank. I can't walk out of a plane mid-flight.
Get over yourself. The world doesn't owe you anything because you made a baby.

I completely 100% agree!!! Christopher is normally really good on flights, but our last flight together sucked. He raised holy hell on the way down. It started as a tantrum and turned into his ears bothering him. I felt so bad for the people around me, but there was nothing I could do to make him stop. I tried everything. I think people need to have some sympathy for parents on planes...its not easy flying with a child and keep them happy 100% of the time.
ETA: Changing your baby on the tray table is disgusting. I have changed Christopher in the bathroom without a changing table. Put down the toilet cover, put your changing pad on and go for it.
Ryan has been on many flights with us including one across the country and one to Hawaii. He rarely ever has even cried on a flight but I also did everything I could to keep him happy. I've had quite a few people give me looks beforehand and then comment after the flight how awesome he was. I think people just need to understand that sometimes there is nothing a parent can do to quiet their child, and there's nowhere to take them so there really aren't many other options besides people bringing their own earplugs if they're upset.
I've only been on one flight w/o a changing table and let me tell you I would NEVER change a baby on a tray table. That's just nasty.
Same here! It's funny how people judge you ahead of time, isn't it?
Overnight diapers. Change right before you get on the plane, and unless you're going a very long way it should last you through the flight. I have flown a million times and only changed one diaper. Not hard.
I do bring those scented sassy bags in case I need to change a smelly one, though. Nobody wants dirty diapers in the community trash.
Yup, all of this.
wow I can't believe how defensive some people got! Just saying that if i took out a changing pad put the baby on it and then changed him, it is much more sanitary then changing him in a bathroom with pee on the floor and seat, which more likely then not there is.
Too each their own, but I can guarantee you that if you had to make a cross country flight and you had no changing table you would do the same thing. Do not judge until you have been there. And when your baby gets to be about 6-7 months and can't fit on your lap in a tiny little airplane bathroom, you will use the tray table.
experience from a mom who had to make 6 flights back and forth with a baby 6 months -13 months from Fort Myers Florida to Detroit Michigan. DELTA you suck for no changing tables on more then half of my flights.
:huge eyeroll:
I can change my 30 lb 2 year old on my lap if I have to do it. And we've made more and longer flights then Ft Myers to Detroit.
More sanitary for whom? Think about what is on the back of your changing pad and what you are transferring to someone's eating surface.
FTR, I've flown twice, once when he was 13 mos and once when he was 16 mos. I used overnight diapers and changed him in the airport when I changed flights. Much easier.
