DS #1 is 23 months, DS#2 is 7 weeks, and i have to say, we are doing really great! I'm a SAHM, and I'm nursing, which was my biggest fear while pregnant- I didn't know how I'd BF all day and keep the big one occupied, but it hasn't even been much of an issue! Nothing has been easy, but taking care of 2 little ones hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. And my husband is out of the house 12 hours a day. Is my house clean? No. Do I make dinner everynight? No way. But we are all happy, for now!! How are you guys all doing, and do you have any tips/secrets that make your day easier?
Re: New mommies of 2.....how are you doing?
I'm not (yet) but it's nice to hear that you are doing great! I've already started worrying about being able to nurse #2 since DS will be under 2 if things go as we plan.
Congrats super mom!
We've developed routines that work and things are going good. It can be challenging, like when I am home alone trying to nurse DD #2, and DD #1 has a melt down...but I am loving having 2.
(DD 1 is 20.5 months, DD 2 is 2 months).
Hats off to you for being a SAHM to an almost 2 yo and an infant! Yikes! DD#1, who is 2 1/2, goes to daycare every day during the week and it saves my sanity. I think DD's terrible twos are starting to peak right now so she is fully aware of when I can't get up and remove her from a situation (like playing with something she shouldn't be). She is really starting to assert her independence.
Going from 1 to 2 has certainly been easier than going from 0 to 1 and we have dealt with very little jealousy. We've only dealt with a few acts of "pay attention to me." (she colored with crayon on the wood floor yesterday and has also emptied an entire basket full of folded clothes)
My saving grace is that DD#2 is a super efficient nurser and has been from day one. DD#1 would eat from 30-60 minutes at a time. DD#2 eats for about 15-20 minutes TOPS. Also, DD#1 just wants to be involved in any way she can. I make sure to invite her to help me with laundry (she puts clothes in the washer, transfers them from washer to dryer and puts them in the basket when dry--with me), she has helped me bake cookies and a cake for Daddy's birthday and LOVES to help with baby sister. She gets diapers and wipes and even likes to help me burp her by patting her back. It is really cute. I can't wait until they can interact. I think they'll be best of friends (until they are bitter enemies while teenagers).
Good for you, though! Seriously, I couldn't do it with DD#1 home all the time.
