Just joined a local Moms group

This is all starting to feel so real! My sister has been in a Moms group in her area since she had her first (now on her 3rd) and has really enjoyed it. They go on play dates, have group activities, etc. So I decided to see if there were any in my area since I have no mommy friends nearby other than a sis and a coworker I am not close too. I found several in my area, and checked them all out to see what they were like. I found one that seems great, and have been very welcoming already. They are a lot like you ladies, but local! I am looking forward to getting out with other Moms once Ashur is here and spending time with others going through the same things!

For anyone who is thinking about joining one, I recommend it. It was so easy  and I am glad I did it.

  • Yes

i found a group thru meetup.com once i quit working after dd and it was great. i still keep in contact with a lot of them

once we get moved again, i plan on joining one in our new neighborhood. it's a good way to find out what's going on for kids, especially if you're brand new to the area like we are

  • I recently joined the spouses' club here on base, and they have a weekly meet up for those with kids, but it doesn't seem like many people attend.  There is a mom's group in town too so I may have to look into joining them.

And my neighbor down the street just had a baby boy a week or 2 ago.  I'm kind of shy but I should try to introduce myself since our LO's will be so close in age.  I would not even have known she had a baby or was pregnant though because it's only gotten warm out recently and we've all been stuck inside.  But her other kids (I think with the baby it makes 5 all together) came into my yard last weekend to pet my dogs and told me that she had a baby.

  • That's awesome! I plan on doing the same, though the one in my area on Meetup has a handbook of rules and allegedly a waiting list, so I've been a little put off. It has 100+ members, so I'm trying to hunt around and find something smaller so I can actually get to know people.

  • I joined one and it's been really nice so far meeting up every couple of weeks to hang out.
  • I am in one and I love it.  I actually am an assistant organizer for it.  When I got put on bedrest they have been a great support system.  They come over to pick up my DS to take him to the parks and they have been making meals for my family.  I have an amazing amount of thank you notes to send out.  It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to know that I have so many local friends that have helped my family out.
