Advice needed re: spitting up

For the past 2 days DS has been spitting up quite a bit.  He'll drink his bottle (BM) or eat some solids and cereal and sometimes spit up right away, or sometimes an hour or so later spit up.  He also has been acting like he's going to spit up, and then swallowing it back down (making a nasty face as he does).  The amount of spit up seems like a lot as well - not just a small spit up "dribble."

We've been watching his weight gain closely because he is just a little peanut (around 14 lbs) and has dropped a bit in the past on the percentile chart.  This spitting up can't be helping him gain weight.

Any ideas for why he may be spitting up more in the past couple days? Could he be sick? Anything I can do to help him?

I've left a message on our pedi's nurse line as well, but haven't gotten a call back yet.  Just curious if anyone on the board has dealt with this as well.  TIA!
