Hospital Feedback

Has anyone delivered at Paradise Valley?  I'm looking for feedback.

During my last pregnancy, I delivered at Scottsdale Healthcare and loved it. I have a new ob and she delivers at PV. I really like her, but may consider switching - just so I can stay at the hospital I like.

Your thoughts and stories are appreciated.

Re: Hospital Feedback

  • I don't know anyone that delivered there, and don't know anything about the maternity unit, but I haven't heard good things about the hospital in general.

  • I had a really good exeperience at Scottsdale on Shea...I even liked the food.  However, lately I've heard a lot of good feedback about PVH. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
  • I have been wondering the same thing.

My OB delivers at both PV and Scottsdale Shea and she actually likes PV more. She said if you are high risk, Scottsdale is better (they have a Level III NICU), but that you will receive more attention and better care from the nurses at PV. She also said that she doesn't have any patients that have delivered at Scottsdale the first time and PV the second time that don't like PV more.

However, I haven't heard the greatest things about PV... maybe its just the hospital itself and not L&D?

  • I dont know anyone who has delivered there, but we did have a friend who was incredibly ill and received stellar care at PV.

    The nurses were INCREDIBLE.

  • I was on bed rest at Scottsdale Shea, and it was great.  I have only nice things to say about it.

  • So my feedback may be incredibly different due to my situation. I recently adopted and the birth mother delivered at PV. The L&D nurses for the most part were good, except one who was horrible to us and birth mother (this may have been because of the adoption, not all nurses are adoption friendly). In Post Pardem again I have mixed feelings. Our overnight nurse, Sherry, was AMAZING! The day time education nurse, Kathy was also great, as was the nursey nurse that tended to DD at delivery. However, the other nursery nurses (we didn't have a PP nurse obviously) were SO rude to us. We were treated like we were "forcing" the birth mother to put her baby up for adoption against her will (so far from the truth). That alone gave me a horrible taste for PV as the nurses literally made what should have been the happiest time in our life he'll simply by judging us and making false decisions in their minds about our situation.

  • I had a surgery at PVH and absolutely loved it there.  The nurses and even doctors were so friendly and answered all my questions without making me feel like a moron. I would love to give birth at PVH since I live right down the road, but my OB only delivers at Phoenix Baptist.

  • I think I am the only one who had a bad experience at Shea, but I did. I have many friends who delivered there and loved it, but for us, it was just one thing after another. None in itself were major (well, except the epidural never took, but I don't blame the hospital for that) but when you put it all together, it was bad. We are hoping to deliver at PV next time- but it means finding a new Dr.I will say, the food was good though!

My husband's dental hygenist delivered all her kids there and said it was great. Not at all why we want PV (it is just close, really) but it is a recommendation none the less!

  • My friend delivered one of her babies at each. She said that the main differences are aesthetic, and she's deliver at either one again. I have another coworker who really liked the care at PVH with her recent second born, but delivered her first at Scottsdale and preferred the rooms.
