Is there such a thing as a civilized divorce?

Did anyone have one? Someone give me some hope or tell me I'm BSC.

Re: Is there such a thing as a civilized divorce?

  • yes, if you're both mature.  Mine was relatively easy, although there were some stressful moments.  But I think if both of you are ok with it and over the other person, there is no reason it can't be civil.

The ex and I worked out a lot of stuff outside the courtroom.  There was one issue that had to be decided by the judge, but I think thats pretty good.

    best of luck

  • I had one.  Not to say there weren't tense moments or arguments, but we didn't use lawyers or mediators and were able to write a parenting plan on our own.  I'd say it's definitely doable but depends on the situation...

I wrote these posts about it, if you want personal stories...

  • Yes.  I was divorced and it was very quick, cheap, easy and civil.  We did not have a child though.
