Can you explain the process to me? Did you have your attorney there with you? How long did it take?
My EX wants to try and write a parenting plan together and I know we aren't going to agree. I said I would go and listen to what he had to say, but if we couldnt come to terms we would need to go to court of have it mediated.
How did it turn out? Do you think it was fair?

It's court ordered here to go through with a divorce involving a PP, so yep I did go
Biggest waste of time and money in my case ever! I knew we weren't going to agree on anything so going in it was obvious how it was going to turn out.
Both of our lawyers came, so in addition to paying the mediation person (cost was split 50/50), we each had to pay our lawyers respectively. Boo. It took us about 3 hours and in the end of all the fighting, I refused to sign because I knew it was all smoke blowing out of my exH @ss and he wouldn't stick to it. We ended up going to court to say the least.
Here in WA the process is 1) mediation - (obv. we didn't come to a conclusion here), 2) pre trial settlement (his lawyer had dropped him at this point and he was a now show), and the last hope the end all...final court (he didn't show to this either and I got everything I wanted!:))
We did "collaborative divorce." Basically we sat down with a mediator (who is a lawyer) for four 2 hour sessions and worked out our entire separation agreement which will transfer over to our divorce when it is finalized. We both had access to separate lawyers in the process if we wanted to privately consult with one (I did, he didn't).
It worked very well for us, and I think was much less traumatic and less expensive than if we had gotten opposing lawyers. But we really only had a few issues that we disagreed on, for the most part we were able to agree fairly easily.
