rec your jogging stroller that isn't a bob

i have a single bob but i'm looking into other options for a double jogging stroller. it's not that i don't like my bob, i'm just surprised at the ratings/reviews i've been reading about other equally good or better jogging strollers for much less. i didn't do much research the first time, i just bought knowing that bobs are good.

So if you have a jogging stroller (or really i guess they call them all-terrain, with a swiveling front wheel) that you love, what is it?

  • We've been nothing but happy with our baby trend. We picked it b/c it was the only travel system/jogging stroller on the market at the time. I use(d) it on rocky trails a lot with DD, and we ran quite a bit (did a 10k with her when she was 6 months old), and it's been great.

Having had such a good experience with a MUCH cheaper stroller, I really can't wrap my mind around the bob obsession.

I had a babyTrend that I liked pretty well, and used it almost daily until a few months ago when I bought a BOB.  There were a few design flaws I didn't like about the BabyTrend, and for a stroller I use all the time, I wanted to LOVE it, not just like it a lot.  If a BOB is definitely not in the budget I think the BabyTrend is a great alternative.  Though I've never tried out the double, just keep that in mind.

  • I had a Babytrend single and LOVED it...Then I bought the double Babytrend and it was HORRIBLE for running. It basically gives your kid whiplash along with it veering all over the place. My husband tried to work on it  and made some adjustments, nothing helped.  I have a friend that bought the newer one and had the same issues. It is just not made for the weight of 2 children. So I got rid of it and purchased the BOB double and it is a night and day difference! I can run miles and miles with no problems! hope this helps!

I can see this. I currently love our Baby Trend single, but it has less than 20 miles on it. We are using it every day and it's great, but I've read reviews (and maybe BobcatSteph?) say it won't hold more weight well. Just one example is that the back rest is held up by a rope, kinda ... and I can easily see where as Olivia gets heavier, her weight is going to push it down. Also, it just doesn't have the "shocks" a BOB does. Compared to a BOB, I can feel a difference in quality, especially in smoothness of ride. For me, since I don't jog (and it was free), the Baby Trend is great. If I ever buy one, say Olivia needs another one or if I need a double, I'll probably go with the Citi Mini. Not as expensive as a Bob, but better quality than the Baby Trend ... so I hear.

  • Are you actually jogging, or just looking for something to get you over trail terrians and such?  I LOVE my Bumbleride Indie Twin.  Can't say enough good things about it.  Super comfy for the kids, really easy to fold and unfold, stylish, and has held up incredibly well through air travel and lots of use on gravely roads.  I think they call it a 'double all terrain' because it's not intended as a hard core jogger, but I have used it for some light jogging and it does just fine.

i do run, but not hard core anymore. and i'm not sure how hard core my running could get pushing a double stroller. if i ran with it it'd be like 3-5 miles max mostly on the road or hard packed trail. but i think i see us using it more for walks and travel which is why i'm a little hesitant spending so much money.
