Ultrasound at Six Weeks?

Just wondering if anyone had an ultrasound in their sixth week.

I'll be 6w2d at my first prenatal appointment and my husband and I are visiting his parents in Austin shortly thereafter. We'd love to be able to tell them in person about their first grandchild but I'm hesitant to do so without getting visual confirmation that everything is normal.

It depends on when your OB wants to see you. I saw my OB at 8 weeks and we got a dating ultrasound.

I had my first at 6 weeks, and we saw a heartbeat. Being that early, however, it can be iffy if you will see the heartbeat.

I had one at 6 weeks because we thought i was really 8 weeks.. They were still able to see and hear heartbeat.

I had my first u/s at 5wks5d and my second one at 6wks5d. In both of them we saw the gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole, and the heartbeat. In the second one we saw all the same thing just more clearer b/c everything was larger and the halo around the gestational sac which is the placenta forming.

I had an ultrasound at 6w5d, we saw a little bean with a fetal pole and heard the heartbeat. Good luck!

I had one at what I thought was 5w 5d and they didn't see anything but the sac, went back 13 days later at what I thought was 7w 4d and the baby was measuring 6w 5d (I have longer cycles, 32-33 days)....SO, in other words, if you have a consistent 28 days cycles, they will prob be able to find baby/heartbeat, but they also may not....so don't get discouraged it the first appt is not what you want/expect. But good luck! Hoping that you get to see lo!

I had one at 6w1d, and was able to see a sac with a blob in there. My doctor was able to detect fetal cardiac activity, but I couldn't see it on the screen. It should be clearer at my next u/s (7w5d).

At 6w4d we could see the HB, and hear it. This was transvaginally.

My OB doesn't routinely do ultrasounds until 20 weeks. I had one at 5w5d for spotting though. The started abdominally and saw the gestational sac, then switched to transvaginal and saw the gestational sac, yolk sac, and embryo with a hb.

I had one at exactly 6 weeks. We saw a little blob and were able to see and hear the HB! It was very exciting!

We saw the gestational sac and yolk sac at 6w3d, but not a h/b. So don't get discouraged if you don't see much more than that either. Sometimes it's hard to see anything else that early. Best of luck to you!

My dr gave me one at 6 weeks because I had some spotting. We saw the sac and a fetal pole, but no heartbeat. Really, it just looked like a little ball to me...

Doctors do not like to do ultrasounds that early, because you might not see a heartbeat, which doesn't mean anything is wrong, it's simply too early. I like my doctor's practice of doing the first ultrasound at 10 weeks, when you will see the heartbeat for sure if nothing is wrong.
