Let's Talk Food (again)

Does any one else want nothing to do with left overs? I've been cooking like crazy, these big meals with lots of left overs. But then I want nothing to do with the leftovers. I made that Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork that we talked about last week and now the thought of eating it does nothing for me. In fact I would be perfectly fine if I never saw it again.

However I did make a quiche last night and it's so good, i am enjoying those leftovers for lunch today. But then there was a pizza guy in the elevator and now I want Pizza. And I've had a hankering for Olive Garden for weeks now! I think I'm going to have to do something about that one soon!

How's your relationship with food these days?

  • I am so ADD with food right now.  What I want now doesn't sound good 10 minutes later.  It's funny that you say pizza - I just sent DH a text telling him that I must have pizza for dinner tonight!

  • My appetite is finally coming back, and I just feel like I can't eat enough. I am definitely forcing certain healthy things down though. I'm trying hard not to dive into carb and dairy binges. I haven't had the energy or been too uncomfortable to cook (bad back/sciatica) to cook, so I haven't had the issue with leftovers.

  • Oh I forgot to add that fruit tastes like candy. On Sunday I ate a whole container of strawberries by myself. And the grapes from Costco are soo good right now. And the pineapple. I could go on and on, but I won't. You get the point.

  • I can eat pretty much anything as long as I don't cook it. For some reason the smell of the food when I am cooking it makes it not appealing to me when it is time to eat. So, poor DH has been doing all of the cooking at our house. Hopefully this ends soon because I love to cook.

    But I agree with emilyj77, I could eat fruit non-stop all day! YUM!

    Me too!  I've had strawberries, grapes, and apple slices with cheese and walnuts for breakfast every day.  It never gets old!  The Costco strawberries and blackberries are really delicious too.

    I could have written this word for word! haha.  DH is has definitely become better in the kitchen the past 9 weeks!  And I too cannot get enough fruit! Or chocolate.. but that's a whole other story!

  • Ahh i WISH i had a relationship with food, nothing sounds good! Fruit is the easiest for me to get down, but everything else seems to gross me out. And forget cooking-the smell alone sends me to the bathroom. I can't wait to feel better and enjoy food again-already spent this morning in the bathroom thanks to m/s before going to work. Boo :(

    I've had severe food ADD as well.  I don't know what sounds good until 10 minutes before it's time to eat so I've stopped packing a lunch.  It's too hard to guess what I'll be able to eat so I just go for take out now.

    Also, funny you mention Olive Garden.  I drove 20 minutes out of my way yesterday to get some!!

  • I can't do leftovers, either - except for spaghetti.  I can't cook, either - that's all been on Hubby lately.

    I'm a little ADD, too.  Whatever winds up sounding good is essentially what I have to eat.  Lately, though, past 4-5 days, nothing sounds good and I find myself having to cram food down just to get past the growling tummy and jitteryness.  It isn't coming back up, necessarily, but nothing sounds good.  I'm literally relying on Hubby or friends at work to say where they are going or what they are cooking and then I can pick from there.  It's so weird.  I'm not getting enough calories in, now - lost 4 pounds in the past 3 days because of this!  I'm not eager to gain, but I'm not trying to lose, either....
