Car seats for second timers

Are you going with an infant seat, then convertible? I can't make up my mind yet. I loved the east of having the girls in their infant seats, and then the Double Snap n Go. But because I was carrying two seats, I switched to convertibles around 6 months.

I'll have a Bumbleride Indie Twin which reclines flat, and I think I'll get The First Years Indigo stroller for this (hopeful) singleton. So while I could put a newborn in either, I can also snap in a car seat.

Ugh, decisions.

  • You are pregnant!!!! Congrats!

I would never go straight to the convertible. I love the convenience of the infant seat. DS is still in his. I leave it in the car most of the time, but I like having the option of carrying if he is asleep.

This.  Also, my DS  was 22" and 9.5 lb at birth but there is NO way he would have fit properly in the convertible.  The infant seat is much safer.

  • I agree with PP about using an infant seat first.  It is just so convenient, especially with having two kids.  I can't imagine trying to wrangle two toddlers and a baby without having the ease of the infant seat.
