My sweet baby boy is 6 weeks old and doesn't like to sleep in his bed yet. I know it is the open feeling he doesn't like because he sleeps so well if he's held, in his car seat or propped in a bobby nursing pillow. We have tried swaddling but he just kicks out of it. We lay him down in his bed and he'll sleep for a little bit, then move around and grunt/fuss and not sleep. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me...
Re: Are your LO's sleeping in their bed?
:Blog:
LO has been sleeping in her crib since day 5, when we just couldn't take being up every 30mins because of her grunting. At around 9/10pm (depending on how her feeding schedule went that day) we change her, feed her, swaddle and then rock and put her in her bed. She sleeps solidly for 4.5-5 hours before waking up and then goes right back to sleep for another 3.
Those first two weeks, she busted out of her swaddle a lot and we would have to go back in reswaddle and rock her and put her back down, wash, rinse, repeat. Now she loves her crib. I can't put her to nap there because she will sleep too heavily and miss a daytime feeding, which screws up our day.
(Can you tell we love our schedule? We're doing Babywise LITE
I am glad I am not alone. My LO is 4 weeks and has yet to go down in her cosleeper. I have a nightime routine of changing/swaddling, going upstairs and rocking/feeding in the dark while playing a sound machine. She falls asleep in my arms and wakes up crying within ten minutes of being set down. I tried a pacifier for first time last night but she wasnt very interested. We just got very little sleep and she was back in our bed by 3 am-sleeping like a champ.
I am hoping it is something that she will eventually just be ready for as she gets older. I am ready to get a good night sleep without the constant worry of rolling onto her.
Our LO has been in his crib since he was 2 weeks. I wasn't planning to put him in his own room until 6 weeks but he was just a really good sleeper so I thought I'd try it. At first we would put his First Years co-sleeper in the crib so there wouldn't be as much open space around him. Maybe something like that would be helpful for your LO?
Also my LO loves to be swaddled and I am not great at it so I have found the Sleepsack Swaddle to be a lifesaver! It's so easy to wrap him up tight without having to get him out of bed. I would definitely go for the cotton version over the fleece to avoid over-heating. GL!
