Breastfeeding

soy free / dairy free / Zantac (xp/feb)

The GI has me continuing on a soy & dairy free diet. Plus DD's Zantac dose was increased.  DH and I immediately went to Whole Foods to find soy & dairy free food. I am already vegetarian (not vegan... so egg is still okay).

This should be an interesting year.  It's a good thing I love breastfeeding or I would totally give up.

Another positive is that I found out most people allergic to soy can eat soy lethicin and soy oil. I'm giving it another week or two before reintroducing those.

Any helpful hints, encouragement, recipes, or well wishes (oh dietary t&p Wink) appreciated.

  • I ate soybean oil and soy lethicin without problems, so hopefully you can, too! I can't imagine being on a dairy/soy free diet AND being vegetarian. That's incredibly hard.

Earth Balance soy-free "butter" spread and coconut milk ice cream are surprisingly good!

  • I've had both of those things already and couldn't agree more. In fact, even if I could eat dairy I would probably still buy Trader Joe's chocolate coconut milk ice cream. The strawberry is good too. My mom, a butter addict, did a Earth Balance taste test and was impressed.

  • My DD is the same.

I also like the Earth Balance.  I also like Dayia? Shredded cheese.  I think it is pretty good.  I ate a lot of brown rice.  I don't know if you are into gluten free but I make Breads by Anna banana muffins with Organ Egg replacer.  I thought they were good.

I am not sure if they are vegetarian but I really like the Enjoy Life chocolate.  Yum! I use their chocolate chips if I am baking.  Tribe Hummus.  I also liked the Good Karma Rice Divine Ice Cream.

It gets easier and easier- I think you might have an easier time because you are a vegetarian and are probably already used to watching ingredients/ foods.  Good Luck!
