Infertility Myth: If you can?t get pregnant it is because a higher-power is telling you that you should not be a parent. Reality: Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system. It does not discriminate and affects all races, religions, men and women equally and people all over the world. Whether or not you resolve your infertility journey by choosing to become a parent through ART or Adoption, or choosing to live child-free is a personal decision.

FB Status: Today's Myth (for National Infertility Awareness Week): Infertility is God's way of telling you that you two aren't meant to be parents.
My comment:
Reality: Infertility is a disease of the reproductive system. It does not discriminate and affects all races, religions, men and women equally and people all over the world. Infertility is no more a sign from god that you shouldn't be parents than high blood pressure is a sign from god that you should be dead or diabetes is a sign from god that you should go blind, have your feet amputated, or go into a diabetic coma. Infertility, like any other disease, is not a sign from god about the value or worthiness of an individual (besides, look at the people who have kids with no difficulty who really have no business having kids. If god were going to decide who would and would not be suitable parents by doling out infertility, surely he/she would be a bit more selective!)
History of IF and 2.5 years TTC. The day we were to start our first IUI we received a call that changed our lives forever and 10 month old Olivia joined our family. Shortly thereafter we got a surprise BFP and baby 2 is due July 5, 2012
This is a special week. Sure, I think about infertility a lot simply because it is a part of my life. But this week is a week to work extra hard to talk about and to help others learn more about infertility. It is a week to care for someone who is dealing with infertility. It is a week to acknowledge a silent disease, one that you can rarely see with your eyes?there are no outward signs of the sadnesses within.
