Venue ideas for a baby shower

My best friend is due in September....we are having her shower in July.  She prefers to not have the venue be her home, someone elses home, a resturant or park.  The only place she wanted: Dolce Salon and Spa is $500 just for the space.  Does anyone have any ideas of where we can hold this shower.  50+ guests.

    Wow, that "preference" seems really limiting. The Wildlife World Zoo has a nice restaurant where you could see the flamingos and the shark tank. It may be a nice place - and fairly quiet in July. Another thought I had was maybe a museum or art gallery downtown. You might want to tell her that you guys can do a smaller girls day for the salon service she wants just before or after her shower. Maybe someone can get her gift certificates as a shower gift. Good luck!

    I'm sorry, but it's pretty tacky for your friend to demand the shower be somewhere so expensive.  I'll admit I had a big part in helping my mom plan my shower, but only because she asked- and even then I only made suggestions, not demands.  Your friend should be grateful that she has friends willing to spend time and money towards a party no matter where it is.

    I had two more ideas that I thought might be fun:

    We have the Stuffington Bear Factory here in town that might be able to host a shower. I think they do kids parties.

    One of those paint your own pottery places might be fun too. Everyone could contribute a little something to an item for mom and can paint their own little shower favor.

    First, that is incredibly tacky.  Wouldn't she rather have the $500 go towards the baby, and not some superficial space rental?  There is nothing wrong with having a shower in someone's home as long as there is the space for everyone.  If she is going to be so picky, let her pick the spot and pay the rental fee, and you guys can do the rest.

    Hi!

    Not sure if this is along the lines your looking for, but the Children's Museum of Phoenix has a baby shower package...  might be worth checking out.....

     I think you even get a discount if you mention that you can from The Bump.

    Your friend  didn't leave you with many options. I think the children's museum is a really neat idea....and totally original.
