everytime i take benadryl.....

in 2nd Trimester

i feel like a terrible mother (to be). I tried to hold out & not take any meds at all this allergy season but i swear the pollen got so bad, so quickly. and as i'm sure most of you know, sneezing can sometimes be painful (or embarassing if u start to sniss!!)  i only take one a day (or one every couple of days) but still i feel bad. i think this weekend i'll try to find some saline spray or something & see if that helps instead of taking benadryl. 

hope i don't sound like a crazy pregnant woman or something lol.

    Aw I know how you feel :( I was having trouble sleeping due to SPD and my Dr told me to start taking benadryl at night. I only take it every once in awhile and I feel horrible when I do! I ended up taking one last night because my allergies have been so bad lately too!

    Benadryl is completely safe during pregnancy. My OB even recommended it as an alternative to try for severe morning sickness...as in take it every 6 hours. No need to guilt-trip yourself and definitely no need to suffer unnecessarily.

    I completely agree. Benadryl is a category B drug, which is the safest you can find during pregnancy. I take Zyrtec daily, which is also category B, because if I didn't I would be an absolute mess with sinus and skin allergies (hives) and I don't feel guilty. My baby is completely healthy. No need to feel this way, really.

    I know Benadryl is perfectly fine to take while pregnant or my Dr would not have recommended I take it every night. That doesn't stop me from feeling some guilt because I don't really want to have to take anything at all while pregnant. Just my personal preference that some may find stupid I know but whatever Cool

    I don't think it's stupid, exactly.  I do think that you shouldn't put so much pressure on yourself, especially for things that are totally safe and doctor-recommended.  Try to relax - a healthy and happy mom make for a healthy and happy baby!

    thanks everybody. people i know IRL tell me to just take the medicine and just chill. Pretty sure if it weren't safe the doctor's @ my OB's office wouldn't all sign off on it lol.
