I keep reading that it is standard to check urine at all appointments. I had my urine checked at 8 weeks during my lab tests but that was it. Anyone else not have these checks at each appointment?
I've heard that its standard as well but I don't do it at every visit either. I did at my first visit (9 weeks) and my 24 week visit. At 14 weeks they had me do a 24 hour urine sample to check for protein because my blood pressure was high at my 12 week appointment. They had me come in for an extra visit at 14 weeks to check my BP and because it was still high at that visit, I did the 24 hour sample.
My doctor's office doesn't start doing it until later in the pregnancy. 24/26ish weeks is when it starts I believe. I think if you had high blood pressure or other issues they may check it on a more regular basis. It's to check for protein in your urine, which you are more at risk for later in pregnancy.
I had to every time with DS, but they don't check it at my new office. I actually have it on my list to ask about this week (because I've forgotten the last several visits.) I wish they would check....
they checked at my old office that I went to for first tri until I moved, but my new office hasn't done so yet (I've had 3 apts). They did check my hemoglobin today though with a finger prick.
With DD and with this baby I have to pee in a cup every single appointment. My sister, however, sees a midwife and she never pees in a cup. They check her urine at her first appointment and unless they suspect issues, they dont test again. I dont know why.

where I go they check every visit....checks for proteins and leukocytes etc....prettty standard and a way to make sure everything is going as it should. Last visit they picked up on a UTI that I had starting and nipped it before it got bad

I have to go at every appointment. I'd rather it that way anyway. I like knowing that they are checking on things. They can check for a lot of possible issues from your pee before you even know it.
I have appointments every two weeks and yes, I give a urine sample at each appointment. There was one that I couldn't give a sample because I had just emptied my bladder for an u/s and they said that was fine. Other than that, a sample each time.
I just went for my 24 week appt and they told me they will start taking my urine starting at 30 weeks and going forward. I have been very lucky and have had a great pregnancy. My blood pressure is always fine, weight gain is right on track and the baby is well so my OB isn't concerned.
I only had my urine checked once at about 12 weeks. I asked them why they don't check every time since I have heard that is the standard and they told me it is not necessary unless I feel like there is a problem (uti symptoms or something.)
