Babies on the Brain

So my little brother is getting married

I'm not shocked that he's getting married, but a little surprised it's going to be so soon.  It's this October, which seems really quick to me (and his fiancee is not pregnant... thank God).  I mean they've been living together for almost a year now, and he's actually older than I was when I got married so I can't exactly say anything.  I'll just always see him and his twin as my baby brothers, not as adults who are old enough to get married and shiite.  Crazy, I tell you!

The best part?  They're apparently going with an Old West theme, and they want R&N to be in the wedding party.  I made sure to mention that I have to be free to make sure they don't run amok, just to make sure I don't somehow get volun-told for the bridal or house party.  LOL.  I think the duo will be adorable in old western clothes, but the whole theme idea itself is making me laugh hysterically.  I just hope they manage to pull it off with some level of class, and I'm happy they didn't go with the barnyard kind of western, or camo or something.

There's really no point to this post by the way.

  • That's exciting. If my H had his way, we would have had a western theme wedding.  Heck, he wants western themed everything!  It sounds like fun and I can't wait to see pics of the duo in their old west clothes.

I told my mom that I want to dress Nathan up like Billy the Kid, gun holsters and all.  Bwahahaha!

  • It is weird as younger siblings do adult things that you can't imagine that they are quite ready for.  I totally get that.

Has the duo learned to run in opposite directions to escape you yet?  You could add some real western style fun if you learn to lasso them in case they veer of course on their way down the wedding aisle.

This is brilliant!  ::adds lasso to list of things to bring to wedding::  And um, I might already know how to lasso.  My grandfather taught me when I was like 5 or 6.  I'm a little rusty these days, but I'm sure I could pick it up again in no time.

Usually I'm lucky and they run off together.  Holding hands even.  Even so, they're still super fast so the lasso could come in handy.

  • Of course you already know how. You are a fantastic wife, strong parent, excellent carpenter and talented sewing person (are all sewers seamstresses or is that only the ones who do tailoring?).  Of COURSE you know how to lasso.

Also, that dress you made for your husband's return, GORGEOUS. I bow down to the great Leslie.

Haha, I was born and raised in south Texas, and my dad and grandfather both have small cattle ranches.  I can lasso (though I've never had to lasso any live animals), brand and vaccinate cattle <-- HATE doing those, shoot guns, kill snakes, bale hay, climb trees, drive a tractor, can jellies and preserves, etc, etc, etc.  You learn to be very resourceful with a family like mine.  I used to be quite the country/farmer's girl, though most people wouldn't know it today.  ;)

  • This made me think of donkeyballs, I think b/c of the barnyard mention thing. Her wedding pics were beautiful and very nice. I think it can definitely be done classy, but there's such a fine line. It'll be interesting what they choose and how it turns out!

Dayum girl. All that AND you make gorgeous babies? You are all that and the bag of chips! =D

Can't wait for October to see N&R!! If he's Billy the Kid, who will she be? Annie Oakley?
