Success after IF

Going to RE for number 2

For those of you who have had treatment for your second, third, ect. What can I expect at my consult the second time around? I am going tomorrow, and would like to know if they re-do testing, if it happens faster/easier. Do I have to try clomid again even though we were successful with Bravelle? Give me some insight!

Re: Going to RE for number 2

  • Did it work with number two faster, take longer, or the same?

  • We haven'tg one back for number two (obviously since number one isn't here!) but I did ask our Dr about it when we graduated. She said we would re-do blood work and possibly the HSG, and SA and then jump right back into what worked before.
  • I didn't have to do the HSG again- but did have to do a saline sono to check my uterus and make sure there was no scarring, etc- since giving birth.

I did have the blood tests done again -and so did DH- but we didn't have to do the semen analysis b/c it had only been 2 yrs and the doc said male fertility rarely changes that fast.

We went right to the same protocol that worked for us the last time.

    Good luck!!

  • When we went back to RE for baby #2, the only thing I had to do was a saline test and a mock transfer because we were doing a FET with our left over embies from IVF#1.  Unfortunately, that cycle failed so we were going to do another fresh IVF.  I had to repeat cd3 levels, but we actually got a surprise BFP the cycle before we were going to do IVF#2.  It was very much a surprise because when we went to the RE to discuss baby#2 he said we had a 1% chance to conceive on our own!!!!  I guess we got really, really lucky!
    Baby #1: 19 cycles, failed IUI, and 1 + IVF 3-5-07
Baby #2: 12 cycles, 1 failed FET, natural miracle but m/c at 9 weeks then another natural miracle that stuck! 9-30-09

    TTC #3 - 4 cycles - no BFP yet!
  • My RE did require an HSG to make sure there wasn't anything in there that would keep the embies from implanting since I had given birth. I'm glad he did because he found a polyp, which he removed on Friday. Beyond that we didn't have to do anything at all. We were able to start bcp for our FET cycle the day after surgery!
