I want to whine a minute here because I can't IRL.
I have a very good friend with two little boys - one is 5, the other is turning 3 next month. And they are the worst behaved kids I have EVER seen.
I don't expect young kids to be quiet or non-messy. I enjoy it when my friends bring their LOs to my house and their kids have a great time - I have no problem with them running around like crazy, shouting, playing with toys, etc. But that's different to being destructive.
Within 5 minutes of arriving at Will and Dash's birthday party (pics to come, btw!) these kids had shredded half the decorations, including the cool caterpillar I made out of balloons - they knocked it apart and popped half the balloons (which mostly annoyed me since I hadn't been able to take pics of it yet - booo!). And other stuff like both of them climbing on the little wooden rocking horse that was a birthday gift for Will and Dash and nearly breaking it, or grabbing fistfulls of pebbles from a border in our yard and throwing them all over the lawn. I did expect this kind of thing - I've been around them enough by now - but it still annoyed me that they do this and that my friend is OK with it.
And she really is OK with it - she often comments that her sons are "all boy." Personally I don't feel that being male has anything to do with having manners (I guess because I intend to teach my kids not to trash someone else's stuff that they'll only be "partly boy"?), but they're not my kids and I'm not going to tell her how to raise them.
There isn't really a point to this post...as I said, we're good friends so it's not like I'm never invite her and her kids around again or anything, and I'm aware of what will happen every time they visit. I just needed a place to vent!

that is a sucky situation. I'm sorry
Can't wait to see pix though!
yay for party!
boo for misbehaving kids. yikes. kids without discipline are one of my pet peeves. it's like when a kid is screaming for a toy at the store and the parent just gives in and gives it to them. i guess i'm too strict. when my sister's kids would melt in the store, i would just pick them up and leave. i don't care if they're still crying their eyes out.
they are boys and they are really very behaved now
my aunt and uncle didn't discipline their oldest daughter. and she's such a troublemaker in her K class. she has to write sentences all the time & she always getting in trouble.
i admit though when the kids do something that's hilarious but bad i want to crack up. so often, i'll say what i have to, then i'll go to another room and bust up quietly.
hawaii 10.2008 plan ;P married bio ???
LOL I can see myself needing to do this...sometimes bad behavior can be really funny!

Booo! I would have been beyond annoyed at the caterpillar!
My brothers two kids are like this if not worse and I cringe at having them over at my house. I know that sounds mean, but they come over and destroy Cassie's toys, they climb all over my furniture, dirty my walls and it kills me that neither my brother or SIL tell them anything. They destroyed so many of the table centerpieces at Cassie's first birthday party, paper flowers that I slaved over. I finally had enough last time they were over and politely asked my brother to control his kids, I'm just hoping he got the hint!
Sorry to take over your whine post, I couldn't resist
Can't wait to see the pics!
