Help! Is your baby doing this? (repost on 0-3)

DD#2 is grunting, moaning, clearing her throat & neighing like a horse allllll night long! It is keeping her from getting good sleep & keeping us up alllll night. She does it a little during the day but not as much. Plus she sounds so congested a lot of the time but theres no mucus! DD#1 had BAD reflux so I'm wondering is this a sign? We already have her sleeping at an incline. Weve tried swaddled & not swaddled too. Does anyone have ANY tips/ideas of what I can do to get her to sleep at night? We are desperate here! lolForgot to mention, I'm BF so could it be something I'm eating/drinking? She even grunts at my breast during night feedings!

I have no tips, but I just wanted to let you know that my daughter does the same thing.  It sounds like yours does it a bit more because for us it is not so bad that she wakes herself up or keeps us up, but she definitely makes all those sounds and they are significantly more at night.  She also grunts while I am bfing sometimes too.  I have no idea what it is!  Let me know if you find anything out.

  • I think mine grunted badly at 3 weeks because of gas.  She would arch her back and looked uncomfortable at the same time.  We started giving Mylicon after every feeding and either that helped or coincidentally she outgrew it.  She still grunts a little, but just when she's starting to wake up, not the whole night like she did.  I got some earplugs (I know, bad mommy) but it helped me sleep through the grunting but I could still hear her wake up when she cried.

  • My son grunts and makes noises all the time. He is also congested so I asked the pedi about it.  She said its reflux and the reason he is congested is the milk fluid gets into his throat and when he lays down it also goes into his nasal passage, making him congested.  She suggested saline spray and the bulb syringe to clear out the congestion.  Once the congestion is gone, he'll make less noise when he's eating and sleeping (can breathe through his nose, not his mouth).  HTH!
