  • Took it but gotta tell you, I winced when I had to mark the 26-35 box :( I'm so used to being able to not be placed in the 30 range just yet.

  • Do you want me to post this on FB? I have like, 750 fb friends who could I could spam it at. :D
  • I took it too but there were definitely some things that need to be ironed out "strongly disagree" was missing - you have it as strongly agree (it's there twice).  And there were a few answers that made the assumption that your primary device is your phone or laptop and are out in public.  If you chose desktop as your primary, this wouldn't have made sense.

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

I work in an open office environment where we have no cube walls. In that case, is it considered public for my desktop? (I ask honestly -- I don't know.)

    1) This survey is loosely about the information and more strongly about the process.

And to answer a pp'ers question...kinda... Our interest is roughly in the realm of identifying some of the basic concerns of persons using their electronic devices (as defined as being accessible to the internet) in public settings and others using them. It is a preliminary survey.  Really more about the practice of surveys and finding the most effective manner in which to get them answered.  We are testing multiple ways and then comparing them.  If that makes sense.  So we are doing in person survey, internet surveys, and in person mandatory surveys (like in a classroom).  We will compare how many we got, the ease of use of getting them, and then the content (i.e. how many males vs females answer, how seriously people seem to take it, the number of respondents, the variety and scope of answers, can a male or female get more respondents, does it matter m/f surveyer over internet, etc.)

So while we are doing a project on privacy concerns for electronic devices, the main focus is really about the practice, quality, and effectivness of 3 types of surveys.

    2) I am doing this alone, my group is not pulling their weight at all.  My group to begin with is only 3 people everyone else has 5-6 and we still have the same amount of work to do. And so I alone am doing the work of 5-6 people.

My professor is aware of this, but at this point there is little that can be done.

So I am not in any way surprised that my survey is sorely lacking in its finess, but I really have very little ability to make it perfect when I am also doing a 15 source content analysis, running an experiment, and 3 surveys for this one project.

    3) We are including desktop in public use because there are a surprisingly large amount of people who use public use desktops (personal and professionally).

    and finally...

    4) Privacy is not defined for the purpose of allowing people to interpret it their own way.  Since this is a preliminary research survey and the questions and answers are less important than the analysis as a whole so we (I) can compare to other methods we prefered to allow it to be more interpretive than explainative (if that is even a ligitimate way of saying that word).

HTH in explaining why it is how it is.
