FYI: Recipe Organization

I was looking for software to help me with organizing the massive recipe binder and all of the saved online recipes I have amassed.  I came across a blog that suggested using Google Docs.  You can scan your paper recipes there, and C&P anything you find online.  The true beauty of it is that you can place each recipe in multiple folders, and then search using a tag word, so Santa Fe chicken can be in a folder for Crock pot, Mexican, chicken, spicy, WW, etc, and you can find it when you search any of those folder names.  I am going to take on the massive project of getting all of my go to recipes on there and try it out.  I am giddy.  It is free!!!!!

ETA:  For those with smart phones, you can pull them up on your phone (or laptop) while you are cooking!  Woot!

  • Love the idea!  I may have to work on this in the next few years, because that's my kinda timeline these days. But, it would be really awesome if you could then share your recipe book. Do you know if that is possible with Google Docs?

  • I am pretty sure you can share Google Docs privately with whomever you have an email address for.  Jersey put the cookie swap recipes on there.  I am excited to try it out, because I really didn't find a better option in my search.
