Back at work

today's my first day back.  people kept telling me that i'd be super depressed leaving LO but i'm actually ok.  i don't know if it's sleep deprivation or what but i'm doing really ok.  i put a pic up at my desk and showed off my brag book.  maybe it's ok cause LO is at home with my boyfriend (he'll be a SAHD for now) and i do miss her but it's not like people said. am i crazy? has anyone else been ok with leaving LO and going back to work?

Re: Back at work

  • I was more upset/stressed about it with #1 than I am this time around with #2.  I'm only part time so that makes a huge difference, if I was full time I think I'd feel differently.  I'm also ok with it because most of the time they're home with DH while I'm at work.  We have great schedules that only cause us to need a sitter few times a month, and when we do need one, one of our mother's watches them.

I think I'm more ok with it this time around because it will actually be a break!  DS #1 is going through the terrible two's and #2 is very high needs...so maternity leave has been anything but relaxing!  I'm also less stressed about it because I don't have to worry about pumping/building a freezer stash for #2.  I really wanted to BF, but because of complications after delivery I couldn't.  So even though I'm upset about that, I don't have to worry about having enough milk for him or carrying a pump to work and finding the time to pump.

  • I go back to work tomorrow and I'm dreading it. I've already teared up a couple times today. I know he will be in good hands because DH is taking 2 weeks off to stay home before he put him in daycare and I'm a teacher whose position has been cut for next year so I only have to work for 9 weeks and then I'm off for probably a year or more with him.

  • I am at work part time (I do a lot of wokr from home) so I find the time I spend at work meaningful for me...probably because I feel a better sense of control.  So, no, I don;t think it it is wrong.
