XP: Switching formula..ween off original first?

I've had Aaron on Enfamil Newborn since he was born.  Lately (last 2 weeks or so) he's been spitting up a lot and is very gassy.  Today I got the generic version of Enfamil Gentlease to try.  Should I be weening him off of NB first?  Or can I just switch?

    I read that it's best to mix the two type of formula to make a gradual transition. You could always ask your Dr. what you should do.

    my LO lex had to switch formulas more than once the dr the one the switched her and he always said to just do a total change right away dont mix.

    We did a total switch and it worked fine.
