Private Adoption or through and Agency?

I have been hearing mixed opinions about this and was wondering what your feelings are from personal experience. We are at the beginning of this journey and are not sure which way to try first.

    I'm really grateful for the agency experience/education we had the first time around. We are trying independently this time, at least at first, but we'll see....

    We only did adoption through an agency, and liked the fact that they handled everything from homestudy all the way through. It all depends on what you're comfortable with.

    We felt more comfortable going with an agency because we knew they would walk us through every thing.  We also felt more protected by using an agency... otherwise we felt like we were going at it on our own.

    I think it's all about what you are personally comfortable with.

    We went private because we couldn't find an agency we were totally comfortable with and we wanted to be more hands on.
