Switching formula..ween off original first?

I've had Aaron on Enfamil Newborn since he was born.  Lately (last 2 weeks or so) he's been spitting up a lot and is very gassy.  Today I got the generic version of Enfamil Gentlease to try.  Should I be weening him off of NB first?  Or can I just switch?

    The best option is to gradually decrease the old and increase the new.  So if he's eating 4oz's try 3oz's of the old to 1oz of the new.  Do that for a day or so and keep changing the amounts until he's completely on the new stuff.

    i didn't do it gradual with my son and it was definitely hard on his stomach to change but he was well adjusted to the original kind. if yours is already gassy with the original, i would take a few days to switch but not spend too long transitioning

    We switched to Gentlease from the Newborn and the Dr. told us to just switch (we've made several changes since then and the Dr. always just had us switch right away).
