STTN!!!

Yay!  At first I wasn't going to post b/c I didn't want anyone who's LO isn't STTN to feel bad but then I realized I might be giving them hope.  At 7 weeks Hudson started sleeping for 8-9 hours straight!  After about a week, he then started going back to sleep after his morning feeding & is now sleeping 11-14 hours per night!!!!!!!!Big Smile

Re: STTN!!!

  • wow! do you BF or FF?

I BF and only get a 4 hour stretch at night then have to feed. She goes back to sleep for another 3 hrs after that.

  • Yeah, I hate you.  :)

DD wakes to eat every 3 hours.  She does sleep from 10 pm to 9 am every night, and goes right back to sleep after eating, so we're getting plenty of sleep, but she has yet to do a long stretch.

  • Thanks everybody.  To answer the question, I FF.  Also he was almost 10 lbs when he was born.  I think he weighs about 14 lbs now, maybe a few oz more.  He drinks about 7 oz give or take 1/2 oz.
  • Colin just recently started STTN at around 3 months. He'll usually sleep 8:30 or 9 to 3:30 or 4, then wake to eat & go right back to sleep until 7 or 7:30 (although we have to get him up at 6 to change & feed before we leave for work). Occasionally (once a week-ish right now) he'll give us a full 8 hour stretch. I loooove those nights!

  • I've been debating on feeding formula at the last feeding of the day.  My friend has done this with her kids so that they STTN.  I'm pretty sure it would work.  I feel like I'm getting enough sleep with the 3-4 hour stretches that I get.  I think i'll wait til I'm close to going back to work to try it if I need to.

  • Congrats to you!!  I EBF and DD goes to bed around 8 pm (give or take 30 minutes).  For the past month or more, she has woken up once between 3 and 4 am, but the past 3 nights she's slept all the way till 6:30 or 7 am.  It's wonderful!

I think an early bedtime makes all the difference!  Sleep begets sleep!  And like I said, DD is EBF, so I don't think using formula at night to get more sleep is the way to go...

  • That's good to know in case I BF the next one.  Btw how do you show where you live?  Like yours says NC,...SC  I can't figure that out for the life of me.  Thanks.
  • Liam started sleeping through the night right around 7 weeks, too, and I breastfeed.  He definitely doesn't sleep 11-14 hours, though (how wonderful!) but he does usually sleep from about 8:30 pm until anywhere between 4:30 and 6:30 am.  Then I change and feed him, and if it's still early, he'll usually sleep again for another 2-3 hours.  Pretty great!
