Surgery and Breastfeeding?

So I am going to have surgery on Wednesday to remove my gallbladder.  I'm nervous about the surgery, but also nervous about how I'm going to do with pumping at the hospital.  I should only be there that day as long as everything goes good.  I've had different people tell me that I didn't have to throw out that milk and some say that I have to throw it out for several days.  Just seeing if anyone here has had surgery and what they did with their milk?

    My Dr. said it woul be best to just toss the first one or two pumpings and that I should be fine to breastfeed that evening.  I am having mine out on May 5th at 7:30am.  DS will be at daycare until 4pm anyway so it should all work out just fine.

    Talk to the anesthesiologist.  Mine looked everything up and told me I could continue to feed after 6-8 hours.  I pumped right before they gave me the first meds and it worked out that 6-8 hours was just when I finally got comfortable at home and with DS again.
