You will not avoid popularity issues by using this nickname for another full name. In fact, you could make things worse.

Keep in mind that all those little Addisons go by Addie too! Not to mention all the Adelines, Adelaides, Adeles, etc.

So actually when you think about it, Addie is more popular than Addison. So if Addison is too popular for you, you should look for something entirely different, IMO.

This is a really great point.

I hate, hate, hate the sound of Addie and Abbie. I do love the name Adele. I had a friend growing up named Adele. She hated it at the time but I think it's more in vogue now.
