DD doesn't like to be layed down during the day...suggestions?

She literally cries within 2 minutes of being layed down!  I have tried the bassinet, crib, Rock and Play, swing and bouncy seat...nothing works!  The only thing that gets her to sleep or be awake and content during the day is holding her or wearing her!  Don't get me wrong, I love cuddling with her, but it makes it extremely difficult to do anything!  Do anyone else's little ones do this?  Any suggestions?  Thank goodness she isn't like this at night!

  • I don't have any words of wisdom, just wanted you to know you're not alone.....DD is sleeping in one arm as I type.  If she is sleeping I can generally set her down for 5-10 min before she realizes she's not being held, awake is harder.  I've just been  alternating between rnp, pnp, crib and swing, and when I really need to get something done around the house during the day she has to cry some.  I've noticed by trying some every day she's getting a little more comfortable being set down and will hang out for longer stretches about every other day.  Like you I'm thankful we've gotten the night down so she'll sleep in her rnp!

  • Just within the last week or so DD had decided that she actually likes the swing. She's finally getting to where she doesn't need to be held all the time to be entertained. It will get better, just hang in there a little longer.

  • Have you tried white noise? I downloaded an app for my phone and it seems to take the edge off so she'll be mire content on her own, sleeping or not.
  • Have you tried swaddling her?

  • My DD doesnt like to lay down during the day. At night she is just fine with being in her crib and only wakes up once during the night for a bottle. But during the day if she isnt in my arms she will cry. I found out that she likes to sit up and watch what I am doing. I sit her in her high chair while I get chores done around the house. It reclines enough so she isnt wobbling around but still lets her watch me.
  • This isn't advice to let her "cry it out", but how long do you let your LO cry? When I lay E down during the day, she frequently wakes up and I let her fuss  for 5 mins and if she is still fussy after that, then I pick her up, rock her to sleep and put her back down. We had to wash, rinse, repeat several times before she got the hang of it. Also, I distinguish between crying and just making noise. Sometimes she makes grunting/fussing noises and if I just leave her alone, she'll calm down. But if she is full on crying, I pick her right up (she's too little to self soothe), then soothe her then put her down.
