If you went to see the tulips this year...

Where was the best place to go? I know there are several fields to go see, but just wondering what the best one to go to is. We're going next weekend and I want to go to the best spot first in case Ella doesn't last very long!!! I will be torturing her by taking tons of pictures! haha! I'm also assuming it will be pretty muddy. Any other tips you have would be appreciated! :) TIA!!!

  • We've only ever gone to Tulip Town and Roozengarde.  I honestly don't remember what TT was like.  Roozengarde has a lot of nice small planting beds, set up nicely for photos and showing off a variety of flowers, before you head out into the fields.  They also have a lovely lineup of foods that you probably shouldn't eat but cannot resist: funnel cakes, fudge, ice cream...  Smile

Sounds like that's where we should head first then... the funnel cake is drawing me in! :)

  • I second Roozengaarde - went w/ my Bff and w/ 4 kids to 2 adults it was a great place because its contained and not muddy and great places to take photos. You can go to the fields if you're up for it - its so pretty! Have fun!

  • Yes the two major ones are Roozengaarde and Tulip Town.  Tulip Town is just rows and rows of of tulip fields.  They have a little indoor area that shows you to different kind of tulips and names.

Roozengaarde is more of a park setting and has the different kind of tulips everywhere with the names. It's has more landscape and photo opps.  If you are going for picture this is the place to go.

Each one cost $5 a person to go in and I think kids are free under 10.

The weird thing is I remember a few years ago they had little tulip fields that you could stop by for free.  They weren't as nice as the two mentioned, but you could just pull off the road, now those seem to be all owned be Roozengaarde so if you have a paid admisson ticket from the you can use it for free parking!

     Have fun!!

This! We went last year for the first time in a looong time and I was shocked that all the smaller fields were gone. When I was a kid you could just drive up there and there would be fields, and fields all over the place. It was such a gorgeous drive. Last year we were like "where the heck did the tulips go?" I was a little disappointed that is has become so commercialized, and mostly limited to two places to go. Oh well, it was still fun.

  • Thanks ladies! I think we'll definitely go to Roozengaarde first and then take it from there. Sounds perfect!
