Charlotte never really liked the paci so I didn't have this problem. Asher likes the paci, not addicted, but he will take it and it calms him down.
Problem #1: He still has to be be tighly swaddled at night. The kid is 20lbs and 6 months old and still startles easily and scratched the crap out of his face.
Problem #2: I give him the paci at night and he sleeps for like 4-5 hours and then screams because he spit it out and wants it back. Then it goes on from there about every hour (some nights better, some nights worse). Clearly he can't replace it himself because he's in a straight jacket.
I tried ditching the paci all together but it really comes in handy during the day and at naptime. Any other ideas (besides duct tape)? He can fall asleep without it, would it be weird to take it away at night and still give it to him during the day?
TIA
Re: Paci Question
I would wean from the swaddle before I'd take the paci away. DS still has a paci and it's a godsend during teething and really helps him self soothe. I am one of those Mom's that see no problems with the paci though and I have no problem with him using one for awhile (though it's limited to naptime and bedtime now)
