I've never posted on 3T before, but I thought this might be a better place to ask this question than TTGP. I have PCOS and recently started seeing an RE for that, but what's been going on lately is pretty unusual for me.
I've been waiting on my period to go in for CD3 blood work with my RE. I've been spotting for 5 days, but no period, so they told me to come in to be evaluated -- did I actually ovulate, etc.
When they did the ultrasound they said, a) I probably never ovulated (not a surprise), and b) there's a chance I have a hydrosalpinx on my left side.
I'm waiting for my doctor to call me and discuss the ultrasound once the blood work they took this morning comes back. I've already Googled everything I can and am totally freaking myself out. So -- does anyone here know anything about hydrosalpinx? Any info from people who know anything/have experienced this would be much appreciated!
Re: XP from TTGP - re:hydrosalpinx
Hi hon. Sorry you're dealing with all of this.
I don't know a ton about them, but my RE talked to me about it during our pre-IVF evaluation. From what she said, hydrosalpinx can impact fertility in two ways. First is the obvious - it's a blocked tube, but apparently if you do get an embryo to form from the other tube, the hydro can leak and wash the embryo away. She told me they can block it or remove the tube. I know my RE won't do IVF with a hydro because of the risk for flushing out the embryos.
I know that probably sounds scary, but the good news is it's fixable, and if that's your main problem, once it's taken care of you can still ovulate from the other side. Try not to worry too much yet. She did say it's a "chance" so everything might turn out fine.
Good luck with it... I hope it turns out to be nothing and you don't have to worry about it!!

Thank you both so much. It's very reassuring that if it's a hydro, there's something that can be done about it. That helps me stay calm while I wait for more information!
