My coworker says it's fine, especially for little kids. Baltimore, she says, is obviously better... but let's face it, that's an hour away. She says with little kids they won't know the difference and will like the DC one.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
Thanks! I have been to the Baltimore one and loved it but I am looking for a last minute activity for my 15 month old and my parents and I. I appreciate the feedback!

I agree. It's definitely not as good as the one in Baltimore, but still really exciting for a toddler. My DD loved it!
The DC Aquarium is PERFECT for toddlers. Very easy to get around, you can use your stroller, and it takes about an hour to tour. My son love love loves it there, and the best part is the membership is good at both venues (DC and Baltimore).
i think this place sucks! it's dark, smells of mildew, it's hot and you can't even have water to drink (and there is no water fountain inside, i was told that i couldn't leave and come back in just to go upstairs for a sip of water from the fountain...wtf?).
the "piranha feeding" consisted of them throwing a couple of pieces of meat into the tank from above, no talk about the fish, their diet, the misconceptions...nothing. just threw the meat in and that was that. we stuck around for an extra 20 minutes (sweating and dehydrating!) because there was supposed to be a presentation that went along with it.
the coolest exhibit is a couple of crocs when you first walk in, and there is a tank of sharks. other than that, there is not much you won't see in the fish aisle at pet smart.
we went to the new Amazonian exhibit at the Zoo last week. super.friggin.cool! very big fish, awesome close ups, and, free. plus, it's very near the kid's farm, so close to parking!
