My little boy was born this past Tuesday april 19th at 2:46 pm. He weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches long. I need to post a pic because he has the most beautiful head full of dark hair!! Long story short, I went in Monday night... they gave me Cervadil at 11pm... I refused the sleeping pill because I was afraid it would throw me into labor. When I arrived I was already 2cm dilated, my cervix was very thin and he was engaged... so I had a good start. At 8 am the doctor came in and broke my water and then started the pitocin. My contractions picked up quick and just as they started getting pretty painful my epidural arrived. By 10 am they shut my pitocin off... I didn't need it for the rest of my labor because my contractions were strong enough on their own and the pitocin was making them too strong. By 10:30 I had my epidural, and was only a little more than 2cm dilated still. The doctor said expect it to be evening before the baby was born. At 12:30 the doctor said she would wait another hour to check me... then at 1:30 I started feeling some pressure, but barely because I was so numb!! I told the nurse and she was shocked to find out I was 10 cm and ready to push!! the doctor was in surgery and I told her i wanted to wait as long as possible to push anyway... as soon as the doctor arrived she set up, told me we were going to do a practice push... but as soon as they put my legs in stirrups they could see his head full of hair!! Next contractions I pushed and he was out in one contraction, 1 and half pushes!! And I had no tearing! It was so easy and wonderful I was in shock!!
He laid on my chest for a good 20 minutes while I fed him, he latched right on, great breast feeder... before they took him away to weigh him and clean him up. It was the most amazing and beautiful experience ever!! He is so healthy and perfect... I wish the same experience for every mother! Literally getting my IV inserted was the most painful part of the day!
Re: My Very Successful Induction...
Congrats!
What a beautiful induction story
Nice to hear something positive about induction.
I agree that the IV is the most painful
That was the case first time around.
Congrats!!!! Enjoy every little moment
