Trouble TTC

Making first visit to fertility clinic

Hi all,

My husband and I have been TTC for a year and a half now. We did get pregnant in the fall '10, but I miscarried at 6 weeks.

We're in the process of trying to get a consultation appointment with a fertility clinic and I'm really nervous.

Those of you who have gone to a clinic, can you let me know what to expect from the first visit?

Thank you so much!!

June 6, 2011: BFP with EDD of February 10, 2012
July 22, 2011: No fetal heartbeat at 11 weeks, emergency D&C

  • Welcome - It is really hard to make that next step - but you will find it totally worth it.   The first visit with an RE is usually just a sit and talk about your TTC history and depending on what tests you may have already done - you will talk about those or he/she will order more tests.   Depending on where you are in your cycle - you may also get an ultrasound.  GL!

  • Welcome.  There's nothing to be nervous about.  The first appointment will be all talk and ordering tests.  Good luck!

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive. - Happy Gilmore
  • First appointment will be talking, getting medical history, ordering any tests you might not have had done yet and discussing a plan of attack!

Good luck to you ~ How long did you have to wait for your referral ~ I am in Canada also and had a 5 month wait.
