i wanted to sleep!

i wanted to not get up 3x/night, to not wake for the day at 6:30, and to take a nap for as long as i wanted that day!

and that's exactly what i did (well, except for the night feedings, i still did those)!

My perfect day would be to sleep in, have DH get me a Venti Starbucks Mocha Frappucino light in the morning, and for it to be a sunny day and to go on a picnic at the park in the afternoon.

For my first Mother's Day, I got jewelry - DH left the box sitting on the changing table. So cute!

I'm getting 2 girls weekends away this summer, so I don't need anything else other than maybe sleeping in for Mother's Day.

Oh how I would love to sleep in that weekend and have someone else do the night feedings, BUT it's my DS's baptism so we have out of town family and 30+ guests coming over that day so I will likely be up at the crack of dawn. Uggh. I think I am going to ask for a rain check...

Is it bad that I'm hoping I get something with DS's birthstone in it? Is it even worse that I may or may not have left a website open with a piece of jewelry that I would like in the hopes that DH would see my computer screen and make a mental note? What can I say, I'm super particular about jewelry...flame me if you want.

I'd love to sleep in, but my older sister has a flight back home to her kiddos early that morning so I need to get her to the airport. She's giving us some free babysitting, so in honor of mother's day, I will choose the date night restaurant.

I wanted a nice card, flowers, and a nap. I got flowers, a nap, and a card. Not a nice card.

Basically I got a card with a flowery sentiment from Hallmark on it signed, "Happy Mother's Day! Love, DH."

I was hoping for some . . . sentiment? You know? About how good a job I was doing as a mother? I know I shouldn't complain, but . . .

I can't believe I'm typing this (eek!) but, DH gives weird gifts. He does well with "big" gifts... but, not so well in the $40 or less range (which is what a typical mother's day would be...)

Last year, i got Hershey's kisses in an etched glass container. (Maybe that was Valentine's day?)

Good thing I don't really care too much about gifts. What I would really like to do is take a day trip somewhere, or go out for a nice dinner. My first Mother's Day was great... we took a drive to 3 different VA wineries. Maybe I'll suggest something similar this year!

I will take this one step further - I flat out showed DH the necklace I've been eyeballing and said "this would be good for Mother's Day". LOL!

He always complains I'm so hard to buy for (and he's not the best gift giver anyway) so I figured I'd make it easy on him. Unfortunately, I'll bet he's not only forgotten that website, but also forgotten I even showed him a failsafe idea. Smile

I'm only pregnant - no actual baby yet. So I will be shocked if I get anything. Honestly, I would just like a card. DH seems incapable of buying cards - even when I tell him that that is what I want (e.g., anniversary, Valentine's day, birthday -- no cards ever other than what the florist attaches to the V-day flowers and that's a one liner).

I was sorely disappointed with my first Mother's Day because very little of it had to do with me, but DH made up for it a few weeks later when I went on a girl's trip and he arranged for his parents to watch C so that I could go a whole day early. That was really sweet.

This year, I told DH that I would really like to go to the beach and not cook a single meal. This will hopefully happen next weekend, since we have other stuff to do Mother's Day weekend. I also emailed him a necklace I really like, but now I'm worried he'll get it in my birthstone instead of C's. Uh oh.

DH has already gotten me earrings in J's birthstone and a necklace with a J on it, so I am pretty good on mom jewelry - now I want some me jewelry! One thing DH is great at is writing cards - for both my birthday and Valentine's Day he got me 2 cards - one from him and one from J and they both made me cry.

a few hours ALONE, at home

I got that for my 1st mother's day and it was awesome. I also got a beautiful necklace, which shocked me, as DH has never bought me jewelry (I picked out my own e-ring).

this year (my 3rd Mother's Day, 1st with DS), I just want a few hours alone. And as always - SLEEP!

For my second Mother's Day, I wanted some "me time" which I got!
