just curious to see what others have done... and any fun ways you may have announced the good news!?!

Re: telling the family

  • We told everyone the same day we got our BFP! We were to excited :)  We live 16 hours away from fam so everything was over the phone and the reaction was the same as if we were there!

Definitely a personal choice, I cant keep my mouth shut about it,  I am so excited!!! We have told the majority of our immediate family and we are telling most of the extended family over the easter weekend.

I also wanted to tell people in a cute way...can't do that either, i just blurt it out!

    So excited!!!

    Have fun spreading the news!

  • We're telling my parents and sister and my mom-in-law on Easter, too! I'm getting excited / nervous about it. They're going to be *really* surprised, as the last thing DH's mom heard from us regarding kids was that we, uhh, weren't going to have any. Well, things changed!

We are telling them via a vacation video / slideshow my husband made. They all think it's just going to be pics from our recent trip to France. And most of it is. But a pic of my ultrasound photo (taped to my belly) pops up at the end! Big Smile

DH wants to tell friends a few days later, but I'm hesitant. I'd like to wait at least until after my 12 wk / bloodwork appt, next Friday.

  • I personally do not think that there is a right or wrong answer to this question, it is completely up to you on when you feel it is the right time to tell.

We are telling immediate family this weekend, managers next week, and I will come out on FB at around 10 weeks.

I cannot wait to spill the beans!

  • I am glad you posted this as I am wondering when to tell our family and friends.  I am just 4 weeks today and just DH and I know. I have my first dr. appt scheduled for May 10th which I will be almost 7 weeks. I know I will wait at least until after that appointment to tell my family but I cant decide how long I will wait to tell extended family, in laws and friends.  I am so paranoid right now that I don't want to jinx anything!
  • My hpt line was faint and my DH said since he could hardly see it he wouldn't consider me pregnant (men). My mom had come to visit that day (she lives 2 1/2 hrs away) so I asked her if she could see the line! She smiled at me and said "yes, there's a line". So we went and bought a digital test so my husband could actually read "pregnant". :) My mother absolutely can NOT keep anything to herself so the phone calls started that day. Now my whole family knows.

  • i know everyone has different ways and times to share , so thanks for all the feedback!

im a hairdresser, and it seems that all of my clients keep asking "so, are you guys trying soon?" its soo hard not to explode the news! i havent given in yet, but one of my best friends is coming into town this weekend & staying with me, so ive decided im going to share with her! it will be much more fun now, then telling her over the phone in a few weeks. shes the type of person who would be nothing but supportive and loving if something were to go wrong..

good luck to everyone sharing and much patience to you all who decided to wait! hope all friends and families are extremely excited about the wonderful news!

  • We just heard the heartbeat last week (about 6 1/2 weeks) and either this week or next week we will tell our parents.

  • we told our parents at 8 weeks and will be telling extended fam on sunday (one day shy of 12 weeks) at easter dinner.  I'm still really nervous about that.  We have an apt wed and I'd prefer to wait untill after that one when we hear the heartbeat on the doppler but the timing is just too convienient fo wait 2 days.

  • We told our immediate families and my 2 best friends. I think we are going to wait to tell extended family (aunts, uncles, and cousins) for a few more weeks and not posting it ne where to more people until im about 10 weeks. Its really hard but the way things have always worked for us (with job positions and everything) is that the first thing always falls through. Call me superstitious, but Im just going to wait until the doctor really tells me I am (my appt is may 4th) and then go from there :)
