Success after IF

When did your LO get his/her first haircut?

Just curious.

D's hair is so crazy- it is super long in some spots an barely there in others.  I think we might have a Trump situation going on.

Re: When did your LO get his/her first haircut?

  • DS's first haircut was when he was 14 months.  I saved all of the hair from that first one.  I don't think it would hurt if you got it trimmed, only is you're ready though!

  • My DS was almost 15 months - it was just a few weeks before my DD was born.  He looked awful - had a mullet, hair in his eyes and growing over his ears.  We went to Snip Its and they gave us a little lock of his hair along with a first haircut certificate.  He cried through the whole thing, but it was worth it.  Although with his haircut, he looked like such a little boy - no longer my baby.

He went for another haircut today while I was working.  When I came home, I had the same reaction - he looked so old!  Just be aware of that - he may not look like such a baby anymore :(

  • My LO was 8 months old when he got his first haircut. The hair over his ears was insanely long--my mom called him Elvis! Perhaps it's because he started so young, but LO has always sat very well for haircuts. We go every four weeks for a trim.

  • Reese had the trump when she was born! :) She was a hairy little beast when she was born, so she had her first at 7 months. The little one doesn't have as much hair, but is already rockin the baby mullet. I have a feeling her's will be sooner rather than later!

  • 8 months and I regret it. They hacked her hair. I won't be cutting DD2's hair at all unless it gets ratty at the ends but she has such long hair already (7 weeks) I don't know if that'll be the case.
  • I think DD was 14 or 15 months (I'm too lazy to look it up and I already don't remember!) We probably should have done it sooner because she has some crazy hair as well... it looked super cute after we did it, but she definitely did look like a big girl afterwards.

  • Still waiting.

At this point I'm saying we will definitely need to cut it before she is 6.

  • I was thinking of posting this same question!

Will's hair is getting long/weird around his ears and scraggly all around.

What are you thinking? While I'm afraid of making him look too grown up, I already feel he looks really grown up when I sweep his hair behind his ears and brush the top to the side!

  • 13 months. His is curly and kinda wild and that was the point where he started just looking ridiculous at times. He's since had it cut every 2 - 4 months (depending on how short the prior cut is).

  • um, 3yrs and still waiting.  Right now it's a bob just under her chin.  We trimmed the back once because it was growing into a rat tail.  Other than that, nothing.  Hopefullt by prom she'll have enough for an updo.

Simon will be 1 yr in a few weeks and he still has nothing to consider trimming.

  • my son was 7 months old - it was hanging in eyes.

my daughter was 18 months old - i wanted her to look like a girl - her hair was mullet-like.

  • Mine are going next weekend with me (so they can watch momma get hers cut first, hopefully they'll relax a little for it).  They'll be 2 days shy of 14 months.

  • I had to go look on the blog because I couldn't remember! He was like 20-21 months! I didn't realize at the time, but he looked ridiculous LOL.

Here's my blog post with pictures:

We went to tiny trims. He liked it b/c he got to sit on a motorcyle like daddy's :)

  • Preston was about 13 months and from that point on he needed a hair cut every 4 to 6 weeks.

Jordana we trimmed at 16 months because she had a mullet.

Brady needed a haircut right after he was born LOL! I believe we just his hair the first time at 5 weeks when you couldn't see his eyes! He needs a cut every 3 to 4 weeks because he has super thick fast growing hair!

  • DS got his first haircut 2 weeks after he turned 1.  He reall needed it. We went to a kid's salon.  They have a "ceremonial 1st haircut" where they take before and after pictures for you and make a cute certificate that they put the pictures on and you leave the salon w/it to take home :)  They also give you several tiny baggies of the locks they cut off (for Momma, Grandma etc...).  It's been 2+ months since and we need to go again soon.

  • 4 months.  Yup, that's right.  He had so much hair and it was so long, especially in the back.  He needed it cut bad!  I took the bumbo in (and took it until he was almost 2) and it worked great.

I think DD will be the same.  My kids get a baby mullet and it isnt pretty.  They just need it trimmed up in the back.

  • I cut it myself because it is thick and curly. I guess I cut it at about a year. Wedid not officially get his hair cut until he was 3 years 7 months. They just use clippers on it.

  • DS's was at 12 mo.  Haven't done DD's yet, although it probably should have been done at some point, but I just clip it back.
