Where are you hiding the Easter Basket?

That is if you have older kids obviously our LOs can't look for one yet!  Or where is the most creative/interesting place you remember yours being hidden?

Re: Where are you hiding the Easter Basket?

  • My parents did hide them for us. They were always right on the couch when we woke up. It would have been fun to search for them though! I like that idea!

  • We are planning on putting DD's empty Easter Basket by her bed and making her find the contents of it all around the house.  I'm also hiding a couple CDs and things that are obviously for LO for DD to find so she knows the Easter bunny brought stuff for her little sister too.

I remember one time I was in high school and my mom still hid mine and I was sooo annoyed!  I kept saying mom I'm too old for this and she just laughed and played hot and cold til I found it.

  • I've never heard of hiding the basket itself. Cute idea!
  • I remember that either mine or my sister's was in the dryer once, possibly the washer. Usually they hid them on the kitchen chairs tucked under the table, or behind the rocking chair.
  • my family always hid baskets :)

  • My parents never hid our baskets. They were always on the kitchen table when we woke up Easter morning. This year I am putting it on the kitchen table for DS. But I think hiding it is a cute idea. I may have to do that when he gets a little older.
  • my parents always hid them in the corners of the room behind a speaker, shelf, etc...

i don't know what we'll eventually end up doing but right now her basket is on the table with the eggs.

  • That's a fun idea. My mom never did that, but she always hid one of our Christmas gifts in the tree. It always took forever for us to find them!

  • My parents ALWAYS hid mine in hard spots like the shower, oven, dryer, on the ceiling (they have exposed rafters).

Jordan's only 7 months so he won't really understand it but we're hiding his under the kitchen table. When get him out of his crib we put him on the floor and he always crawls under the table to try and get to the cat food because he thinks that it's puffs.

I'm hiding T's (DF) in the fridge so he can find it when he goes to get his morning orange juice.

  • My parents were SO creative with the hiding places...my brother and I had to work super hard to find them. Once mine was in the oven and my dad didn't know, and he preheated the oven. All of my chocolate melted and my jellybeans got all nasty. :(

  • Our baskets were in random places, oven, fridge etc. BUT my mom would make it like a scavenger hunt with clues. So the first clue would lead to another and so forth until you got to your basket. It was fun!

  • I didn't know you were supposed to hide them! They were usually just set out on the counter in the morning. I don't think we'll probably ever end up hiding hers either....hers is currently in our living room. The Easter Bunny just stopped by:)

  • We did ours today, my parents were over so we had them take DS upstairs for a few minutes and we ran around hiding the eggs and presents.  Then I rang the doorbell like crazy and told jacoby that he just missed the easter bunny.  I made the first few eggs obvious.  I hid the basket and some other bigger gifts (sprinkler, baseball mit) on the dining room chairs but he totally needed some direction.  I am not sure he was sure what he was looking for besides the obvious eggs.

~My parents always hid my basket and I had a trail of eggs starting from my room.  And yes, even in HS my mom would make me look for it and take my picture, sooo embarrassing :)

  • Ours were always hidden...up until I got married.  This is the first year my mom is not doing baskets for my sister and I, although she did get us a gift (yoga towels - yay!)  The best place was a kitchen cabinet - it took me forever to find it.

I am hiding C's this year so he can "find it" with daddy.  It is going in his Exersaucer.

  • When I was younger my dad would make a trail of chocoate eggs from my bed all the way to the basket.

When I was 6, I use to have a bunk bed and slept on the top. There was chocolate eggs all the way along the top rail.... one on each step of the ladder then out to the living room and it stopped and went no where. They hooked it to the ceiling. But he normally always did the trail. Then I was Easter bunny for my little brother (8 years apart). Now, my brother (12) is the Easter bunny for my little sister (5).

One year they removed my pillow and I woke up on a gigantic stuffed bunny.

I'm loving the stories! Ours were hidden until last year (yep, that's right!). This year my parents are giving us a gift card to Outback Steakhouse and my siblings are getting other GCs (my mom can't stop the gift-giving). Anyway, there are 4 of us siblings and my oldest brother's was always a lot harder to find than the rest of ours. One year it was outside in a tree! They were generally inside though...in the fireplace, on the kitchen beam, dryer, washer, closet, pantry, etc. My niece just gave Amelia this giant pink stuffed puppy that she had and I'm going to tuck her basket by it, show it to Amelia, & take a pic for my niece to see. She'll love it!

  • All I know is that our Easter Bunny will come during church.  I don't want her hyped up on candy before going to sit still at church!!
