Sleeping arrrangements (clicky poll)

I'm just wondering when everyone is planning on transitioning LO into his/her own room. We had LO in the bassinet and last night I realized he is getting too big for it but I'm not ready for him to be in his own room. He slept in his pack-n-play last night but I'm not sure how long I want to keep doing this.[Poll]

Re: Sleeping arrrangements (clicky poll)

  • I voted SS.  We'll move him to his room once he is STTN or close to it.  His room is right next to DS #1's room and I don't want #2 to cry and wake him up.

  • We will also move to his crib when he is STTN.  Right now iI feel like that maybe never. At 7 weeks I am still lucky if I get 3hours.
  • I voted SS. We had DS sleep in our room in the pack n play for about the first week and then we started having him sleep in his crib. DH was very against him sleeping in our room and with 3 cats I could understand why. They are used to sleeping with us and we had to keep them out so they didn't hurt LO. They all meowed, scratched, and played at the door so not only did they wake us up, but they woke LO up a couple times.

  • We had DS in his crib by the end of the second week (if not sooner... it's funny how I'm already forgetting these things).  He wasn't sleeping very well in his bassinet and we were all suffering!  Once he moved to the crib all three of us began sleeping more soundly.

  • Once she seems ready. She's still very cuddly, wants to be near mommy. daddy and hates to be alone. Plus she has mild slient refulx and I like her (she likes) to sleep on her side/ tummy/ propped on the boppy so she still sleeps in bed with us. I would like to transaition she to the crib now that she's 2 months, but I doubt it will happen easily.

We had this same problem! Our two cats would meow and scratch our bedroom door all night. LO is still sleeping in our room and I have no plans of moving her into her own room anytime soon.

  • We will bed share for a while.  DD will probably go to her crib around one year of age.

  • since LO was born pre-term, they wanted me to do as much of skin-to-skin (kangaroo) with her. Now i can't get LO to sleep anywhere, but in my arms. I hope to get her to sleep in playard or crib soon! This mamma needs a little break.

  • We've got an arms reach sleeper and DS will stay there until 5-7mths and then will will transition him to his crib.

  • Mine is sleeping in his pack n play at night b/c our upstairs is one room, our master, and his room is down. I don't plan on having him down there till he's pretty much STTN or till I only have to get up maybe once at night to feed him so not sure when this will be.  However, to get him used to his crib, I plan on putting him to sleep in it for naps during the day.  I keep having him sleep in all kinds of places (swing, bouncy seat, pack n play, my arms, etc) so he won't be picky where he sleeps.
  • I voted "no clue".  I have no clue where he'll sleep on a nightly basis, so I can't begin to tell you when he'll sleep in his crib.  We've tried it a few times, and I get success once in awhile, but never for the whole night.  He was in his bassinet last night for 3 hours, then after he ate he wouldn't go back in there, so we ended up on the couch.  I'm losing my mind.

  • i voted SS, Im going to start putting her in her crib when she sleeps through the night for at least a week stright. im thinking that will be in the next week or so :) she likes being in her room too already, i think she knows that's her space. but who knows

  • SS - We plan on moving him once he is STTN.....or most of it.  It's much easier to pick him up from the PNP next to the bed to nurse him.

  • I put 2 months--but I guess I should have put SS.  He will be 7 weeks when I start.  It has been hard for me to let him sleep in there on his own.  We are literally a few feet away, but I am nervous he will massively freak out and I won't wake up right away like I do with him in our room in his PnP.  I guess we will find out Monday.  I want him to try and get used to it before I go back to work in 2 weeks.

  • I voted SS. DD is sleeping in a bassinet, has been since about the first week or so. We have a crib in our room since I am living with my Dad since he needs someone here. Once she gets too big for the bassinet I will transition her to the crib, but I don't think she will have a problem with it.

  • She hated the bassinet and always slept in the napper part of the pack n play. We just tried her in the crib this wknd, and she loves it! We bought the wedge that slightly elevates her so she's not sleeping flat and I really think that's what helped. She's almost 8 weeks old...

  • I voted SS. We intended to keep LO in the PnP in our room for the first six weeks, but BFing didn't work out for us, plus he's a noisy/fussy sleeper, so we ended up moving him to his crib and just leaving our door and his door open. Seems like we are ALL getting more rest this way!

  • We had to transition DD to her crib at 1 month. Not only is she a loud sleeper, but when she fusses during the night I would wake up to find her face too close to the side of her bassinet for my comfort.

I wasn't ready for her not to be by my side at night, but figured it was safer for her to be in her crib.

  • Our daughter will move to her crib when she stops nursing at night and when DD2 is sleeping through the night more consistently (they will be sharing a room).
