Since this pregnancy has taken a turn for the difficult I have had tons of bloodwork and the steroid shots. At this point it's amazing how little needles bother me. When they did the steroid shot in the butt I didn't even flinch. I hope if I decide to get the epidural it doesn't bother me much.
Re: IVF definitely toughened me up
I hear ya sister!
I remember well being TERRIFIED of my first stim shot with my first egg donation cycle many many many years ago - and it was sub Q for God's sake! My hand was shaking so bad.
By the time my own IVF rolled around I'd donated eggs twice.
Needles don't phase me in the least now. Heck... I can even do my own IM's!
I'm the gal that sits down in the phlebotomist's chair and points out the easiest targets while pumping up my veins. (sure they love me telling them how to do their job, huh?) I don't even turn away with blood draws any more.
And I've now had 4 spinal blocks/epidurals so they don't freak me out either.
So... I guess becoming tough medically speaking is one of the silver linings of the whole IF ordeal???
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
17 hours after my water broke, and all of that back labor, I finally opted for the epidural because I realized that if I ever got to 10 cms, I would be too exhausted to push without rest. (I had been awake for 30 hours at that point.)
I barely felt it."Smudge's Story - How to Grow a Dandelion" will return soon!

My labor was hard and fast (3hrs from water breaking to fully dialated). By the time the anthesiolgist (sp?) got to me, I was fully dialted and ready to push. The contractions (I had horrible back labor) were so hard and fast that I barely felt the epidural.
