TTC After a Loss

Weight gain after loss?

Anyone else have weight gain after their loss? I'm 3 months out from an early (7 week) loss. I feel like this is what I should have if I were still pg. What a crappy reminder. I kind of expected the craziness right afterwards, because of all the wacky hormones, but 3 months later, I still feel wacky-fied.

I know what I need to do to change it, but I just want to know I'm not alone.

Re: Weight gain after loss?

  • I gained 30lbs after mine.

Could have something to do with the boxes of Thin Mints I was downing almost daily, though.  Sad

  • I'm six months out after a 13th week loss, and though I don't step on a scale, I don't fit any of my clothes. I'm depressed and I eat my feelings....

  • I had horrible m/s with my pg that led me to try to eat every couple of hours.  After the m/c, I still ate every couple of hours.  Almost 5 months later, I'm still doing it.  I have gained and lost the same few pounds over and over since the m/c.  It is a horrible reminder because in so many ways, I still treat myself like I am pg because we are TTCAL, but the bottom line is...I'm not!

My hormones have been soooo crazy (hence my irregular cycles, etc) so for now I am blaming that---but it still doesn't make it easier.  I was actually hoping to lose another 10 pounds before getting pg but that hasn't happened.

  • I'm 3 mo. from our loss at 12wk, and yep none of my pants seem to fit at all :(  BUG!  I am the heaviest I've ever weighed and have been trying for the past 1.5 mo. to shed it  (the first 1.5 mo. were more eating, sad.. ice cream.. )  It's sooo annoying as I have pants I want to wear and lately it's just sweats.  Crying

I'm trying to walk, go to gym, eat smaller portions, but...

Crappy. Ugh - I hate the back and forth! I just want to be a healthy weight and stay that way (except for future potential pg's).

  • I've gained about 10lbs, hope I can get rid of some of it since I started working out again.  I am always worried since I did gain weight it may prompt people to ask if I am expecting Tongue Tied

  • I gained about 20 lbs with the first pregnancy and loss and then kept telling myself- why diet you'll be pregnant again soon anyway. Well after the 2nd loss I decided that was a piss poor excuse so I got off my butt and started exercising again and went on a diet. I've lost 13 lbs so far but some days it's really really hard. I got tired of all my clothes not fitting right but I completely understand, I spent about 5 months eating everything and not exercising.

  • Yep. I think it is pretty normal. The body just went through a traumatic event and it takes time to regulate.

I kept telling myself the exact same thing- and I worried about starting a new workout regimen if I got pregnant around the same time.  I finally brought myself to realize I have to take care of me or I won't even be healthy enough to get pg.  It's tough though!

  • I lost weight for about a month because I had no appetite, but surly as sure can be, it came back and I gained the weight I lost and a little bit more. I'm not at my happy weight yet, but I'm finding success with eliminating processed foods and exercise. My clothes are starting to fit again which is nice. Now I'm going to try going grain free because I find most grains exacerbate stomach pains.

I wrote an entry about it in my blog, with a grain free pizza recipe. feel free to check it out:

  • Yep, I gained some weight after my loss. But if had something to do all the alcohol I was drinking, all the fast food I was picking up and eating whatever I want. 4 months...I THINK I am finally getting back on track.

  • Oh I wish I could tell you that it was just you! Wink

I put on about 15lbs after each of my loss. I went from a healthy, thin 130 to a whopping 160...sigh...

I'm finally getting serious in the last couple of weeks to lose it though. 5lbs lost in 2 weeks by just eating super healthy and adding a little more exercise...so I'm feeling good...hopefully we can all get rid of it soon! Its a crappy reminder indeed.

  • Like PPs, I have gained weight since my loss as well. None of my clothes really fit. I guess it's the fact  that I have eaten chocolate on a daily basis since. *oops* Thanks for posting this. I was starting to worry that it was just me.
