Good Morning Ladies!
So when I entered my temp this morning into Fertility Friend it completely changed my chart. Prior to this morning it was showing that I had been fertile for the past 2 weeks without the O then this morning it totally changes and says that I actually O'd on Wednesday and was only fertile for a couple days before that... huh?
Has this happened to anyone before and is it normal for FF to just change it's mind?
TIA and happy Saturday
Re: FF turned my chart around??
I see you just went off BCP, is this your first cycle charting? FF was probably estimating possible fertile days based on an average cycle since it may not have had enough data. Also, it may have been estimating that you're probability of being fertile was high because of the fertile CM you had entered beginning CD 14. It is typical for FF to 'change' their mind once they have enough clear data to confirm O (BBT thermal shift) which to me if your temps stay up, I have to agree with FF's O date on CD 26.
The only thing I am wondering about (and I am no expert by any means) are the open circles between CD 16-23. Possibly, you could have O'd earlier than CD 26 but this can't be confirmed because of the temps you did enter with all the open circles. The only reason I suspect that you could have O'd earlier is all the EWCM you'd entered on those cycle days- although it is not uncommon to have patches of fertile CM throughout your cycle.
FF gives you 3 fertile days preceeding O. Which is why FF has now narrowed down your actual fertile days since O has been confirmed with a temp shift. Once you have a few more cycles charted, FF will give you a smaller window based on your typical O date- if they stay somewhat regular.
Thank you so much for your imput and advice! this is my second month charting and I think that I have been a mouth breather at night with my allergies so I think that might be why my temps are all over the place. I am going to start to vag temp next cycle. I stopped taking my Allegra D and started using a Neti-Pot which really works but I think I'm congested a bit at night. I was on the pill for 14 years so I knew that my body was going to be all over the place the first few months I was just shocked this morning when my chart changed so much. I have been drinking the POM and the green tea as well as taking Evening Primerose Oil (but stopped all three at the start of this week because I thought I would O soon) so I think that's why I have so much wet CM. I'm also going to use the TCOYF chart next cycle and try and figure out cervical position. Have you used that site for charting? I started using FF because it seems what everyone uses but I thought I might check out the software for TCOYF that came with my book.
Thanks again for your advice and being a sounding board.
Have a great day, Jen.
I played around with TCOYF when I first started charting, but I prefer FF (especially since it's so easily accessible on my iPhone.) Mouth breathing could definitely effect your temps as well as allergy medications (I believe ones with only a decongestant are ok-but not positive.)
Just something to mention, I took evening primrose oil to help increase fertile CM (on my own after reading about it) and my doctor said stop immediately because it can mess up your cycle- produce too much estrogen, delay O, cause irregular bleeding, etc (all of which I have had problems with since taking it.) I am not saying it's not ok, but just be sure you have the ok from your doctor first, I would hate to see you go through what I have the last couple of months of wacky cycles (and I've been of BCPs for almost 2 years now.)
Best of luck with everything! Don't be discouraged if your cycle gets a little wonky for a while longer, it could take quite some time for your body to work well on it's own again
This. Until you get a confirmed O with CHs, FF is only showing you your forecasted/possible fertile days based on the info it has so far. Even after you get your CHs, they may change as you add new temps, so it's best to cover your bases and have sex throughout your cycle so that your timing doesn't get thrown off.
As your cycle regulates and you continue to chart, you'll learn more about recognizing the patterns of your cycle. Hang in there and GL!

thank you ladies for your replies
i think this is just something i'm going to learn with time and i'm so thankful that i'm always able to come on here and chat with you all
my OBGYN actually told me to take the Evening Primrose Oil when I recentlysaw her because my PMS symptoms were so bad once I came off the pill. Not to be TMI but my nips hurt so bad I had to keep looking at them to make sure they weren't burned. I was so nauseas- if I wasn't a rational person and knew the odds of getting pregnant the first month was so rare I would've thought I was PG. LOL. I then read on here that taking it after you O is not good- don't remember excactly why- I think it causes uterine contractions. Thank you for the advice though- I will def keep my eye on how much I take
Have a Happy Easter ladies and if you don't celebrate then I wish you a nice Sunday
