Trouble TTC

Intro and questions

Hey ladies!  I was referred to this board by someone on Nest GP. So here I am.  DH and I were married 5/9/09 and have been TTC since November. I know that's not long by some standards, but we do have some hurdles. My OB/GYN ordered an HSG which revealed some issues with my left tube. I met with an RE who did an internal U/S and found a lot of fluid in front of the ovary.  He feels it's hydrosalpinx and scheduled me for lap surgery on June 9. (I wish it was sooner, but what can ya do). He stressed multiple times that, based on the severity he saw from the U/S, he may very well remove the tube during surgery. He feels it's probably something I've actually been deailing withfor 15 years.

Aside from this, he also feels I am not ovulating "strongly".  I am waiting on results from 7dpo bloodwork and have orders for CD3. Additionally, H's S/A count is borderline low.

So, that's us in a nutshell. I hope to learn from you guys. I would  love to hear from anyone, but esp those with hydrosalpinx or TTC with one tube.  Thanks in advance!

Re: Intro and questions

  • Welcome and good luck. I do not have that condition, but I think this board and the IF board will both supply you with great information on hydrosalpinx. I have seen/read a lot about it on here and IF. Best of luck to you.

I just had a lap last Wednesday and I healed up pretty quickly.

  • Hi there. I don't have hydrosalpinx, but I only have one tube (Unicornuate Uterus= half a ute & 1 tube).

It's frustrating knowing that when I ovulate on the right side it's a wasted cycle, but what can you do!

I hope your doctor does not need to remove your tube during surgery. Best of luck!

  • Welcome!  No advice here, but there are quite a few gals on here who will have some great advice for you.  Glad you found out about your tube.  T&P that he can save it, but it is good he is being straight forward with you.  GL!  This is a GREAT board & some of the IF gals check this one regularly.

  • I just wanted to say Welcome.  I can't personally relate to your situation. But I wish you the best of luck for your surgery.  I know there are others with one tube, so you are not alone. I'm sorry you have to be here.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome :)

PP with one tube- what treatment are you doing/ using?   Prior to the hydrosalpinx Dx we had discussed Clomid, but I am not sure if that will still be the plan or not.

One tube here :) As of now we're just doing ovulation inducing oral medications (not necessarily related to having one tube, just my hormones.) I did one round of Clomid and ovulated (on the wrong side), but my hormone levels were not great. This cycle we're using Femara to try and have stronger ovulation.... and I'm praying I'll ovulate on the side with a tube this cycle!

I don't think there's anything to do to ensure you ovulate on one side over another, but it is possible for the meds to cause follicles to grow on both sides (like they'd want to do for egg retrieval during IVF).

    Hope that helps!

Sounds similar (weak O and one tube), so thanks for the hope!  I still with the stork could be for real, but I guess this is a chance to work on my (lack of) patience.

  • Hey there! Welcome!

I have bilateral Hydrosalpinx. Both tubes are affected. My re told me that after surgery to clip (not remove) the tubes that I would be going straight to ivf.

if you have only one side affected though it would be possible your treatment would be different. Best of luck!

  • I also have a unicornuate uterus and one tube.  It sucks, to put it bluntly.  I really hope they don't have to remove your tube.  My body doesn't like to O from my connected ovary, but we finally had some success on 150mg of Clomid this cycle (see siggy below).  I'm wishing you the best of luck.

  • Good luck!  I am also pretty new to the board... I actually just had surgery last month and my right ovary was removed and part of my left.  I know how scary it is to find out news that turns your life upside down!  I ended up being diagnosed with Endo and now am on a 6 month Lupron therapy treatment to prevent any "unseen" endometriomas from growing on what it is left of one ovary.  After that, we are onto IVF (not til October though)... so good luck to you and hopefully everything goes well in June and they save your tube!  I am here for a long haul, so if I can help, I will certainly try!!
