After Andrew's 2 yr adjusted NICU follow-up, the doctor wants him in preschool. he starts Tuesday.
I'm nervous - for the germs - not the school.
We went for his interview & evaluation there (it's a speech-oriented school) on Tuesday and now I have a cold and Andrew feels warm, and he hasn't even had his first day.
And I'm having a newborn in less than 6 weeks. It's going to be okay, right?
I keep telling myself he needs this, but, I kind of want to lock him in a bubble ![]()
Re: here goes nothing...
It is going to be ok....actually, it will be great!
He will get sick. It is inevitable. If he did not go to school now then it would happen whenever he finally did. But, he will gain so so much from being around other kids, getting services, etc. And you will get some one on one time with the baby. Just emphasize hand washing and hand sanitizier.
Of course I put my 24 weeker in daycare when he was 7 months old (4 adjusred). He has had some colds and one ear infection but has done really well overall and has already gained a ton in his social and motor skills.
Good Luck! I am sure Andrew will LOVE it!
I worry too b/c Andrew had constant infections (sinus and ear) from Apr-Dec and finally got an adenoidectomy and tubes. We also found that his immune system is below normal (normal than expected for a preemie even - they said he really should be caught up in the normal range) so that was probably contributing to his lack of response to antibitoics. And he wasn't in school and we were so careful with him!!
I'm hoping that since he had surgery he'll be okay now.
This made me simultaneously smile and LOL!
