Babies: 6 - 9 Months

what does your 8-9month old eat?

I'm wondering if we're not feeding LO enough... what does your 8-9mo eat on a normal day?

  • 15 oz of breastmilk while at daycare, an additional 2-3 nursing sessions (not sure how much, there), and three meals of 4-6 oz of baby food. We're also trying to add puffs and other table foods, but have been a bit slow moving in that department.

  • For breakfast I feed him oatmeal mixed with fruit. Lunch is a veggie and some snacks. Dinner is usually some chicken and veggie. Throughout the day he also has some cheerios, yogurt melts, or a teething cracker. He breastfeeds (more like grazes) before snacks or when he's hungry and it's not time for a "meal." I also breastfeed before I put him down for the night.

  • I let him nurse as often as he wants, which is all the time.  As for solids, he gets at least 2 meals a day, and if I'm actually moving in the morning, we both eat breakfast. We're doing BLW though, so it might not be best to use us as an example.

For breakfast, he gets either waffles or cheerios and some fruit, or if I have a breakfast burrito, I'll give him a little bit of the filling minus any cheese.

For lunch, some fresh veggies and some sort of bread or tortilla and some puffs.  If I eat leftovers, that's we he gets also.

For dinner, generally a little bit of whatever we're eating, or if it's no really appropriate, some more fresh veggies.  Tonight he had a veggie burger.  It had the burger, a whole wheat bun, tomatoes, avocados, and a slice of onion.  He also got a couple baked potato fries.  By the time he's done "eating" (playing), I couldn't tell you how much he actually ingests since it's so torn up, but he's having plenty of wet diapers, and his poopy ones are definitely not the EBF ones anymore!

She nurses 5 times a day, and eats a total of about 10 oz of solds (stage 3). Also bits of anthing we happen to eat during the day. She can't stand when we're eating and don't give her any! lol

  • we are completely weaned from BF'ing and DS eats about 5 6oz bottles of formula a day.  we're still on stage 2 gerber foods and he usually has a fruit for lunch and a veggie for dinner.  we're doing baby mum mums and puffs for snacks.  We have done sweet potato fries, pieces of bread and bananas as table foods.  He REALLY likes feeding himself, so we're going to introduce more of what we eat as table foods.  I just hate the coughing--I'm a nervous nelly everytime thinking he's choking. =/
