Full out wailing...over nothing?

DS is a little over 9 months. In the last couple of weeks, he has started (usually around bedtime) this full out wailing that coincides with putting a diaper on after bath and his pjs.  He used to be fussy during that time because I have always dressed him first then he nurses.  But now it is this incredibly pathetic, heart breaking screaming, wailing, completely inconsolable...until the clothes changing is over.

What the heck?  I had no idea getting dressed could be so traumatic.  I'm still attributing this to it being bedtime and that he's tired and needs to nurse...anybody else deal with this kind of crying?

    My guess is it's just the beginning of your little one learning to express himself. I remember when DS was a wee one and bh2720 posted something about her 10 month old turning into a beast on the changing table...and then I got there myself...I think it goes with the territory.

    My son is around the same age and bedtime changing is becoming more difficult by the day. It literally takes MH and I both to keep down while we change him and dress him. The only thing that helps is popping the paci in his mouth. Sometimes we can distract him with a toy. It's usually just a fussy cry and it gets really loud if he's super hungry and tired. I would suggest moving up his bedtime routine, trying to distract him with a toy/paci. I also think it has to do with him going through a clingy phase.. I'm not sure if your LO is going through that as well. GL, I hope it gets better!

    Yes! M hates getting dressed after his nightly bath. He screams and wails every time. This started a few weeks ago. I don't understand it either. He's fine as soon as we pick him up and exit the bathroom.

    Ben hates, hates getting clothes on.  Loves them coming off though.  We call him our little nudist;0

    I've only got a 4 month old, but she does this at night when we put on her swaddle sleep sack. Literally she's fine before you put her down to get it on, and fine afterwards. ??

    This! I actually remember that post and someone describing how they felt like they had to "lasso" their baby.  I gave up the changing table a few months ago and moved to the floor because he's so wild getting him dressed.  Not to mention that when he wrangles out of my lap, he's crawled off somewhere in a second.

    I'm glad to know that this might be a stage and that I am not the only one!

    Sprout is doing this too.  He's also getting *a lot* more vocal when he gets frustrated with something. Heaven forbid I close the door to my bedroom!  You'd think the world had ended!

    Yup, every.single.night. 

    Not to mention, now he's crawling down the hallway butt naked and pulling himself up on everything.
